Did you ever play the original Myst, on any platform?
Not badly enough, it appears. I was turned away at the border.;)

Sure, Tzaar, np. I will certainly wait a while to let them iron out the inevitable bugs before I give it a go, but it looks promising! :)

That really does look good. Adding it to my wishlist for now, but might get it at some point.

Thank you for being the first of sixteen giveaway entrants to bump the thread!
Taking a look at your wishlist, would you like a free Humble gift link of The Journey Down 1+2 Bundle or Human Resource Machine?
If you would like one of those, add me on Steam, and thank you for the bump.

Apparently not that simple, as I was 0-for-15 initially.
They're just bundle extras I had laying around; I didn't offer a AAA game. ;-)
But yes, MCsquared was cool to bump without an entry. And the other three were cool for commenting.
Anyway, no obligation, just thought I'd offer. Won't be offended if you decline.

Your avatar is an optical illusion. When it's small (like in SG forums), it looks like a woman's head with dark hair and weird, overdone eyelashes.

I am sooooooooooooooooooo evil.... and a guy ....... and dangerous ....... yeah dangerous for sure.... and not forget mighty...

At regular size it's perfectly clear as an alien of some kind. But small and with a white page background (not sure it would work with a dark theme), it looks like a 3/4 angle headshot of a woman. Her dark hair covers the far eye. The symbol on the alien's head is the eye with eyelashes or somesuch. The alien's left eye (on the right side in the pic) is the woman's lips with red lipstick.

This looks actually pretty nice...and hopefully it doesn't get buried in a corner of the steamstore no one ever finds it...way too many good games out there in the store exist with many never hearing of them, while seeing the usual suspects(Tripple-A disappointments or other crap) all the time...because they get promoted :D

Yeah, there won't be anything like that first Myst experience...I'm just hoping it's a good game with interesting puzzles.

After many years of development, XING: The Land Beyond released September 21st!
I haven't heard any real buzz about this game, and it's not on any of my Steam friends' wishlists (some of which are quite extensive). So I'd like to help spread the word about the game and its release. It's kind of a Myst-like game, but built with the Unreal engine and featuring (optional) VR support. Give it a look!
[Edit: if anybody actually plays the game, why don't you add your impressions in the comments, and I'll link them here.]
Detail:
Back in March 2013, I backed a little Kickstarter from a brand new fledgling company called White Lotus Interactive made of of three friends who I believe were recent college grads. They set out to create an ambitious 3D puzzle adventure (basically a "Myst-like" game) that featured an original score, weather control, integrated day-night cycle, 3D environmental puzzles, and more. Requesting a budget of $15,000 USD and a scheduled delivery date of October 2013 (about 7 months from the end of the KS), they launched their little campaign, crossed their fingers, and hoped for the best.
They clearly had no idea what they were doing. Seven months and 15K to develop a 3D puzzle adventure through mountains, deserts, forests, volcanoes and more? Clearly this was destined to 1) fail outright or 2) become Kickstarter abandonware. However, there was a certain moxie these three had, an infectious youthful enthusiasm, so I figured I could fire off $15 USD to back the game and hope for the best.
Well, about four years later than they originally planned, XING: The Land Beyond is releasing September 21st. They've been all over the conference tour, have added extensive (optional!) VR support (Vive, Rift, OSVR), received an Unreal Developer Grant, and have increased the breadth of what they originally set out to accomplish.
The only remaining question is if the game will be any good. :) Take a look and maybe go find out for yourselves! And Thanks for reading.
