What happened to the SteamGifts app?

You can easily find it through F-Droid.

There were two at one point, but I'm still using the main one you're probably thinking of. It doesn't handle SG Tools links anymore, but works perfectly otherwise. +1 to the previous poster's direction to finding it on F-Droid.

yes f droid works pretty well, i rarely go on the main site now. I wish there was an official SG app though, as this one is not supported anymore by the user who made it

The Google Play link was https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.mabako.steamgifts but it has been removed.

If I recall the author was reprimanded by mods here for putting a donation link in his support thread, got mad about it and quit working on the app.

There was also a mobile version of SG for a few days but a lot of people spazzed about it and it was removed.

tho, mobile web version of SG works good enough for me

I'm using it right now, pretty much the only way for me to browse the site, and I downloaded from Google play back then.
