My friend says they only had 25 episodes to sum up the whole story so they had to finish it. He compared it to summarizing a Harry Potter book in 10 pages. That you can only get the important parts. Countered that by saying you can get all the important part, but that doesn't mean it's going to be a good story. If they take it slow and make a really good story then they'll get a second season without any problems. There's a reason it took 3 years to get the second season greenlit and only like a week to get Log Horizon greenlit.

The second season was approved almost as soon as the first season was finished. Also there is a lot of source material, the light novels have about five games or so finished currently. Each season should have been one game, meaning that they could have milked it for all it was worth and the story would be better overall. Plus more time means better character development, so the romance could have actually made us feel for the characters.

It's one of the best anime's I watched, the best part is before they beat the game, and the ending was just ok, but still. I tried to find an audiobook of the series, but there aren't, ppl did the prologue but it was impossible to me to understand what they say...I need to read it by myself someday, since there are the books in digital format. The books must be a lot better than anime...

I don't really remember much about that anime, but I do remember thinking it was overrated as hell. I did kind of like that brief part with Kirito and that small guild who knew each other in real life, though that was too short. I can see why people would say the anime is just a summary. I haven't read the light novels, but I probably will eventually.
And fuck S2+
Also, regarding Log Horizon: when it came out, some people said it was SAO properly done. The two really shouldn't be compared seeing as how they're completely different. If you liked it, do check out Maoyuu Maou Yuusha though. Completely different themes, but the author has a unique style I personally really like.

I agree, I finished SnK but only because I got so far and it was something I could watch with a friend of mine over Skype while criticising everything and complaining about how they ruined a perfectly good anime by having DBZ pacing on an open field running away from titans.

I read the manga, and I wonder how it would have turned out if it were published as seinen. It was definitely fun bitching about all of its flaws, though.
Also, it might just be because I have terrible memory or because I'm used to Japanese names, but I could never associate most of the characters with their names.

Didn't enjoy any of the characters at all, except for Klein who was alright.

SAO to me was one of the worst animes I've given a chance, I gave it the 3 episode treatment and it failed to entice me. If it gets "better" later on, I don't care. It's not worth watching a long season's worth of garbage to possibly like an episode or two.

Yes, it's a garbage, train wreck of an anime. As with the posters above, it seems like only casual anime watchers like it. Anyone who's watched more than like 20 series can attest that it's overhyped garbage.

It was wasted potential. It would've been much better if they dropped they second half hentai storyline and concentrated on the first half more. The character development was horrible and every girl in the show felt pointless, just the typical damsel in distress that wanted the D and that's all they were. I don't even feel the action scenes were good, they ended before they even started and the boss fights didn't have any feel to them, just a big ass mob monster.

first half, good enough. second half, absolute bullshit, dont even bother with it, just watch first half then only last episode. also ignore ome of the game related bullshit like stable launch of mmo and no server maintenance ever. what the hell

So I'm really close to finishing this season of Sword Art Online. Just finished episode 20 and was wondering what you guys think of it? I loved Log Horizon and I remember watching a couple of episodes of .hack back in like 2005. I thought up until (SPOILER ALERT!)!U#)@$U)(!#$&(#!$&(!#&$(!#*YT)))) Kirito beats SAO that it was terrible. The pacing was garbage, the character development was trash and the romance was bad. It felt like every girl wanted the D. Did I mention that the "feels" moments were also terrible? Still after he gets back into the real world I felt that the story was much better (still isn't that good, but it's decent). The action scenes are amazing. Some of the best I've seen, so I'm wondering what you guys think of it?
