Maybe because it is a instant choice they have to make, and (dunno if that expression exists in english), they're next to the wall. They feel like somebody suddenly come in their private life without their approval. I'm not saying you don't have nuts, but that's just the wrong way to do that. It happens naturally.

If only us men weren't historically stupid enough to ignore the fact that 90% of female "NO"s are actually: "yes if you want me enough to be more persistant"!

My recommendation: ignore her for a few days and pretend nothing serious has happened, after a while she most probably thinks: "WTF? Isn't he supposed to be depressed? Why is he so cool with losing me"? She wouldn't be able to live with it and brings it up again herself! lol
