Basically, I am looking for some info. I have to write an article about where to get articles about file sharing, specifically software piracy. Do you know any websites that are dedicated to this? Or at least websites that touch on this subject a lot? I'm really looking specifically for websites that are either anti-piracy or unbiased.

For those helping, there is a giveaway at 08gz3, though I didn't want to make it easy for someone to just enter the thread and click the GA and run off. So, copy and paste it, you lazy bastards.

The websites I currently have are
Slyck and
TorrentFreak

Thanks for the help!

Unbiased views on piracy are difficult, if not impossible to find.

Demonoid, the pirate bay, kickass torrents, isohunt, bitjunkie. A quick Google search will yield the websites.

My bad, I was under the impression that you were looking for the sites that are mainly for pirating software. Sorry.

I want to help, but for the information you want, I can't think of any useful sites.

It wouldn't be unbiased info, but perhaps you can contact some indie game developers and ask for their opinions on it. I'm sure some will give you a response about their views on it.

Yeah, my article has to be regarding the sites with articles, rather than the content and opinions found within, unfortunately

You might research intellectual property as well as consider comparisons to forgery and plagiarism. Consider that this is a comparison from the perspective of how those on the artistic end of software piracy suffer.

Can you clarify if this is a general report on software piracy or is it a report on game software piracy? It's not clear and your reply's are liable to be biased towards computer games based on where you are requesting this information.

Its not a report on the subject, if it was, I could probably write a few thousand words on it without too much research. The job I've actually been given is to discuss the sites which report on news stories and articles about piracy rather than their content. Thanks though!

Wikipedia has interesting information about software intellectual infringement. Some good reports can be found on Google using the same words, with "P2P", "torrent" and "piracy".

I would just run a search for the keyword bittorent through reddit's /r/technology subreddit linkify

Can't help on the matter but why do you think OMD is better than OMD 2? Didn't play the sequel yet and just curious.

OMD2 is focused on multiplayer, even on a single player game.

Crap. I was really afraid you'd say that since I was thinking about playing it alone... Well, I'll have to see it for myself, hope it's not too bad. Thanks for reply anyway!

Well biased views are more easy to find. For pro-piracy you can look to any European pirateparty website's. For anti-piracy maybe some RIAA or like would have propaganda. For less biased opinions you could check what the artists themselves think. If I recall correctly Neil Gaiman had some nice visions of copyright

Good point with the RIAA, I also used the BSA site too.

I would guess that websites like Gizmodo or Kotaku would have articles about piracy. Even RPS will have something. But judging if it's unbiased or not is difficult. If you ask them they'll say they are unbiased but I suppose it's always in the eye of the beholder.

Yeah, i've added TechDirt and Gizmodo to my list. Never thought about RPS, might be worth a look, thanks.

By unbiassed, I'm talking mainly about the likes of Gizmodo who do not promote it, but do not shun away from the opinions of everyone.
