peace, though sometimes it just seems like different types of warfare:
economic war
building up stockpiles for the next war
tech research war
covert ops and deniable war
assassination
blackmail
etc.

Why would someone ever like war? War is only good for the rich people and the fascists. Nobody else likes war. Peace is the only solution. And I don't like people that say that war can bring peace. As Muste said: "There is no way to peace. Peace is the way"!

Still its a good debate. Its a cold peace better than a war? Could a war let pass to a true peace? Does Kissinger, Obama or the European Union (LOLOLOLOL) deserves a peace nobel prize?

you cant really separate cold war from war.. they are on the same well true peace is a whole new concept... and only we can choose it its not the outcome of war, but of a choice :-)

I would say peace, but after taking a Political Science class I am starting to think War is inevitable and keeps the world go round.

Even if we do achieve the peace that everyone speaks of, we are still at war with the plants and animals (or anything else). So, peace isn't really possible unless everyone (and everything) dies.

Without strife, progress stops, hence every utopia in fiction actually be(com)ing a dys- (I don't reach that summation because of that fiction; I point to that fiction as a flimsy form of evidence for that conclusion which I reached on my own).
Not to say that peace isn't preferable, it obviously is, but I believe that true peace isn't possible (on this Earth).

So true. Unless we get a common enemy, we will never have the entire planet live at peace (and I doubt we'll work together if there is an alien invasion). As long as there are differences, there will be war.

I think if aliens were to appear, they'd claim to be our ancestors/creators and demand (without demanding) obeisance. I promise to be by your side, fighting the aliens, because those what come from all that space are decepti...cons.

Is there really something like peace? It seems that when in war people are working better together then when in peace. In the netherlands we've not had any war since WW II, but now there is a lot of other smaller conflicts going on. Especially on the topic of refugees coming in etc.

So true; those who are content don't need for anything, thus not motivated to do anything (see "dystopia"). Sad that hatred seems to (paradoxically) unite Man; not to try and justify war - war is hell - but it is, as they say, our nature.

i believe there is pure peace, and i also believe that the bound of men you see during war is limited and vanish after the "war" is over.
so to my understanding and belief, if we can join effort together for limited time from the wrong reason - we can also do it for the right one - and that one will probably last :-)
