Really Dota 2 is not the golden chalice. It is Dota with better graphics and features. From a gameplay standpoint it is the same game.

Actually you can get a DOTA 2 from the gift thingy on steam.

Most people trade their DOTA 2s for games or keep it for themself.

I heard a rumor that they aren't giving out extra keys to give to your friends anymore...although it is just that, a rumor.

They quit giving extra invites since the holiday sales started. I think they weren't too happy about all the beta trading/selling. The playdota.com keys still give extra invites though just not extra invites from valve themselves by doing the hardware survey.
