I was thinking that'd be something like "remember to save enough points to enter this" but it doesn't seem to display it prominently.

Sometimes I see giveaways set prominently apart from the rest at the top but it doesn't seem to be based on bookmarking

Aren't those GAs with 50+ copies?

Edit. Found it in FAQ:

I'm a game developer or publisher looking to promote my game through giveaways. How do I get started?

If you're looking to promote a game, the best option is to create a featured giveaway. These giveaways are displayed at the top of our homepage, and receive the highest visibility. Featured giveaways are created in the same manner as every other giveaway, and our site will automatically feature giveaways on our homepage if they contain 50 copies of a game or greater, and if they're ending within four days. We feature up to two giveaways at once, and if more are available, then two will be displayed at random, with preference given to giveaways of higher copies. Please note, the giveaway will only be displayed to users that have permission to join, and if you choose to limit your giveaway to a particular Steam group, it will only be visible on the homepage to members of that group. If the limitations on your account do not allow you to create a giveaway for 50 copies or greater, then please contact support. We'll upgrade your account to developer status, allowing you to create giveaways up to 100,000 copies.

Bookmarking giveaways is a ESGST-only feature as far as I'm aware.

If you have this setting enabled, you can filter GAs by their bookmark status (see image)

I personally use bookmarks for two reasons:

  1. Marking GAs that I'm using to store points. I can then access them easily through a preset filter.
  2. Temporarily hiding group GAs that I don't want to join or am ineligible to join (e.g. U-7 GA for Unluckies only).

How you use them is up to you. They're just a filtering tool.

i also use it for invite only GAs
if there is a lot of time left i might not want to enter them immediately but sometime late
also if i leave a GA to get the points back, its not "lost" yet... otherwise i would need to find the discussion again and maybe even solve the puzzle again x.x

Near the ESGST button is a bookmark symbol. Clicking that brings you to a view of the GAs you bookmarked. Usually that icon is just an outline, but when a bookmarked GA has less than an hour left, the symbol will be red, as in this picture.

Also, there's an ESGST setting that automatically bookmarks GAs that you try to enter but don't have enough points for at that time.

I like bookmarking GAs for games that I don't want to add to my wishlist, for whatever reason.

ESGT 3.15.4. Highlight the header button when giveaways have started and/or are about to end.
5 Time range to trigger hightlight: [#] hours

I have mine set to 1, maybe yours is set to 24.
I think I'll set mine to 6 hours now that I am thinking about it...
