I try to nominat only games that I've played. The problem is that I typically don't play many new games.

Well, here's to hoping that Portal: Revolution can get at least 1 nomination.

Same, but I pretty much can't vote in more than 2 categories then...
Here for the badge, its a tradition :-P

At least this year you can skip categories all together and still be able to get the badge.

You could do that before too, but I seem to remember there was a maximum limit?

As far as i remeber it was possible with work arounds but not right of the bat like this year.
You can straight up skip each category and it counts as voted for all.

Can say no to that, my Atlus bias this year is off the charts.

Apparently Balatro is a popular "outstanding story-rich" game :x

Probably just Reddit exploiting Steam's stupid categorization :x

As usual I nominate Stardew Valley for Labor of Love!

But yeah I don't really play any new games. So I had a lot of "whatever" nominations. Actually getting to do Ace Attorney Investigations for Story feels wild, Investigations 2 had like the best story of any Ace Attorney game and then they never released it in English, so only fans knew of the fan translation. (It is competing with the Apollo Justice trilogy though, but none of the games individually is as great as Investigations 2, as much as Dual Destinies is a personal favorite of mine)

Every year they don't win, is a travesty.

Apparently this time around we can nominate a game in several categories at once, so I went ahead and nominated Indika for GOTY and Most innovative gameplay, Just a To the Moon Series Beach Episode for Best story-rich game and Best soundtrack, Death of the Reprobate for Outstanding visual style, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous for Labour of love and Crime Scene Cleaner for Sit back and relax. Skipped other categories.

Once again going to be voting just for the badge, but I'll try to look at the eligible games to at least make them somewhat acceptable votes instead of just picking the first thing that it suggests for you. :D

Oh right, that. Guess I should get around to voting, I think I only played like 2 or 3 games that qualify tho.

I'm just shocked that I found a new game to vote for in the Labor of Love category. Feels like a betrayal not to vote for Coloring Pixels again, but alas!

Without a Voice - according to VNDB, the first demo came out back in 2016, then another one in 2018.
Then, it released on Steam in 2020 without voice acting.
This year, the devs updated it with full voice acting and a bonus short story.
All of this is free-to-play, but if you're interested, you can also purchase the Blooming Edition add-on as well. (It came out just a month after the voice acting update. Then there's also a physical edition of the game that came out yet another month later, but I don't know if it's still available.)

I played it just a little over a week ago and even though the story wasn't something I'd immediately be jumping on, I think everything else deserves the praise as well. The art is great, the voice acting is solid, the UIs are chef's kiss.
I'm only starting out my journey with the Steam Deck, but it's easily the best experience I've had with a VN on it so far (despite never having had a console release, the game lets you choose from a few different glyphs to display the controls as).
The achievement list features separate descriptions of each of the endings, the short story that came with the update is a totally optional read... and there's even a tracker that shows you how much of the game you've seen! (If you've already gotten all the endings/achievements, this is just cosmetic, but since it tracks every single piece of text, I feel like it's something that doesn't show up in many VNs).
It was immediately clear to me just how much this game is loved, even more so considering that it's only ~3 hours long, F2P and came out a few years ago.
Feels so weird to be blown away by nothing but the technicalities, but what can I say?

For a F2P game, it's definitely been updated way more than most "early access" games that ended up totally abandoned after a year.

Although I always want the badge, I tend to have fun choosing what to vote with a friend. But this year, although there were some good games, I felt there weren't enough for all the categories (or just didn't stick in my mind) so I ended up not having as much fun.

They are out now. And I hate them. Only 1 non-triple A winner, and its category doesn't even make sense...
