I saw they each have their own special things about them. While it does seem harder to win games on Playblink, that is more then made up for with the constant Keydrops in the chat. and, Steamgifts, it seems you can enter more giveaways in one go.

How many Metro 2033/Dota 2 does one need? As it's pretty much the only keys I've seen dropped on the shoutbox.

Maybe it's beause I can't spend my days lurking around the Shoutbox but I have probalby seen 2 keys that weren't Dota/Metro since they implemented this. So for those of us with an actual life, it's pretty useless.

They have a forum, this chatbox on site. Also retarded bans/unbans. And if you know some "mod" or suck em at chat you get your benefits. SG wins over PB for me for so many reasons, mostly the community and the fact that you can participate/create giveaways for certain groups and people. I give credit to PB tho cause they seem to try new things out, but they don't rly work for me (eg the steamcritic site, they attracted people to review so they can win games and from what I saw there so many bs critics).

Forum doesn't have any mods. The Shoutbox doesn't have any mods either. There are two admins though. One of them almost never bans anyone, and the other usually needs good reason to. Unbanning though is an extreme rarity. The mod system actually goes into testing this week.
I'm not really into Steamcritic because I like to play a game substantially before I write reviews. And I have ADD with my game library. But I do like the concept of it. Like any user review site it's going to have a lot of "bs critics". At least there they have to own the game, and have a minimum of playtime with it to be able to review. That's more than I can say for almost every other site that allows user reviews.

the website at playbrink doesn't even load for me. It just sends me to a page saying they will fix it.

Aren't you kind of preaching to the choir? Although a poll on Playblink itself back in the day was suspiciously evenly matched, for the bias you'd expect :D I suppose because it was on a forum, so gathered people interested somewhat in building a community, and in that regard steamgifts is better so a different bias was in play.
Anyway yeah, superficially the two sites are similar, both are legit places where you can win games for free so if you want to do that, you'll end up using both because.. why not?
But they are really quite different. Steamgifts is a service "for the people" to facilitate gifting process. You've got your private and group giveaways and also rules that focus on the fact you should only enter giveaways for something you want (so straight up can't join for stuff you already own and regifting/trading isn't allowed). This puts more limelight on actual gifters, more pleasant to them, and generally builds a better community.
Playblink on the other hand is a business machine for profit. You have to hand that to them they have to make things more organized and tightly controlled that way, like you trade them gifts and they trade you your wins, so no fake giveaways etc (although no key giveaways, either - barring recently introduced feature to put out your key for ninjas to grab in the shoutbox and maybe get some points if ninja was nice). Weak interactions between people also mean less drama which also may be a positive thing :) But as a gifter you don't really have any control about how your gift is handled, most importantly to whom it goes (like maybe you didn't really want your gift to go to the "pay to win" establishment? or maybe contrary you wanted contributors to enjoy it? but you have no say). You don't really know who won your giveaway, you can't expect getting thanked, it's more soulless generally. And if you want to increase your chances at wins, you're better off with straight up cash donation, not games, anyway. Business for profit.
So, yeah, totally different vibe with the two sites.
Now there's also whole aspect of minigames but to me that's just another layer of randomness, somewhat modified by skill, sure, but also stuff like Internet connection quality plays a role so meh. Some may like it (especially the more proficient ones), some may treat it as unnecessary obstacle.
So steamgifts is better for gifters and various communities as a whole. Playblink might be better for people who just want to win something, anything, and then most likely trade it away anyway. Either way, if you want free games you'll likely end up using both. I suspect though that chances to win something are still better on SteamGifts, if you want to judge by that, especially if you are more of a people's person. Might be other way around if you have deep pockets.

I suspect if you re-did that poll today the numbers wouldn't be quite so even. The main thing I'll give PB is that they're active in trying to enhance the site.
I'd say the average chance of winning a couple weeks ago was heavily in favour of SG, but the introduction of the key drop system might have tipped that balance severely in the other direction. If you only counted the regular giveaways then it would definitely be SG by a mile, since the main giveaways on PB aren't really all that leecher friendly. A few thousand keys (not including the Metro spam) dropped in the Shoutbox since it launched changed that quickly.
I'm one of the highest contributors on Playblink, and it's because I highly prefer the way it works. If I put 3x the amount of money into SG then I'd still be participating in giveaways with 100+ people. And that's not solely because SG has been around longer. It's just far more easy to exploit contributor on SG. Especially ever since Amazon became a bundle powerhouse. Hell, I think I have at least $2000 worth of Amazon keys stashed at the moment.

Why do they have to be opposed? I use both and like both for different reasons.
A year ago I would have taken a less neutral approach and said SteamGifts was better, but since the quality of the community has been in decay and due to a lot of problems with the way things have been handled or lack thereof as of late, I've been put off more and more from SteamGifts. The ability to make your own giveaways for whoever you want is now the single best thing about SG in my opinion.
As for PB, I personally like the mini-games, I know most people don't, but it's fun trying to beat my own high scores. Also if you are good at the mini-games, donating to become a charity member can be quite advantageous. I've donated $20 and so far have won over $200 (full retail) in games as a direct result of donating (1 high score win (Skyrim huzzah), 2 mixed, and 2 random), and I still have quite a few entries in current charity giveaways, so I won't know the full payoff until another 6-7 days.
