Huh... you really shouldn't be that surprised after almost 5 years here, it's pretty much a dogma that, every time something is given for free, everybody tries to be as "generous" as possible. Especially if they (believe they) can get benefits from it.
The current circumstances mean shit to them in front of that. I'd actually be more surprised if they didn't.

I obstinately want to believe the best of everyone and in a situation like that I would have really hoped that people would become kinder to each other but you're right I'm not that surprise about it just very sadden and disappointed by it :(

Do you know that some people couldn't get the game from the original link because it doesn't work everywhere in the world. Internet is not "free"everywhere. So at least people who couldn't get the game can get it here on steamgift. and the game will become no value so.....

Maybe the next similar event needs more planning. Like having a 1 hour long giveaway will barely give any chance for people to enter, and not setting up a region lock also doesn't really help the people you want to help.

While not everyone will like you for (over) using regional giveaways, you can use any as you want. You can buy a bundle and give a game to everyone, one to Brazil, one to US, one to Russia, one to all the countries in Asia, and one to even Vatican City. All that matters that whoever wins from that country, should be able to activate your gift/key.

Keep in mind most of them do it for the CV, for that duration until staff notices and updates the relevant site list; Because they're unaware of the fact that CV can be retroactively reduced; Or because they want to inflate their Raw CV value to hide leeching.
Meanwhile, the sincere ones take a single copy [that they don't plan to activate themselves] and post it for giveaway after the promotion ends. So, while some goofballs who simply didn't put any real thought into the matter may get mixed in, it's generally easy to draw a clear line between those with decent and insincere, selfish intentions.

I'm not pointing finger at anyone in particular, but keep in mind that you are not the majority. A lot of people take many key to trade or sell them in the future or even thinking they'll get CV and that is what I'm talking about.

and it is not because of few people who grab few keys that the keys went all gone in no-time. Bots and sellers are to blame.

The sad thing is that he trade each day free stuff and he buy himself each few days new games.

It's a vicious circle: the people who really want the game can't get it because of people taking all the keys so they trade and enter giveaways for it which in turn make the same people who took several keys in the first place hogs more keys the next time, kind of a catch 22...
