No, we must play favorites! Nobody is allowed to like both equally and want more! :D

As someone who really enjoyed Life is strange (Its one of my fav games as well) I was kinda disappointed with Before The Storm... that game fell short in length and core mechanices, unlike Max who can rewind time Chloe shittalk her way into things. I'm not saying it was a bad game because it wasn't..but it just didn't live up to the first one. I think if they made 2 more episodes from the life of Rachel before she meets Chloe it would have been good since Before the storm already explain things we know about Chloe but not about Rachel.
I'm looking forward the new game tho but i think i will wait for good sale before I buy.

Next two LiS? There is going to be a LiS 3? Oooh! That would be nice!:)

I really love Life is Strange so I'm very excited. To answer your poll question, I was pretty disappointed in Before the Storm. Mainly because I could not grow attached to one of the main characters at all.
Are you glad it's going to be about different characters or would you have liked to return to the same town once more?
I would love to see Max and Chloe again but they would have to do different characters with how the ending of the first one went.
Overall very excited for all of it!

Yeah, that's why I said return to the same town since Max and Chloe couldn't really be used but there were plenty of supporting characters that could've been the focus of the second season.

But what about the ending where Arcadia Bay was destroyed? If I remember correctly, those supporting characters aren't even alive so they would have to treat it like it's not a real ending.Although I'm sure a lot of people got out so it would be interesting to see some of them again. I'm excited to find out who the protagonist is.

I'd argue that DONTNOD already treated it as a not real ending, considering how brief that "save Chloe" end was compared to "sacrifice Chloe." The Save ending seems to have clearly just been added so they could claim there was multiple endings but the way everything was presented made it clear that the Sacrifice was what players were supposed to do and a real ending, so they could easily just ignore the option of saving her in order to pull out Season 2.
OR Season 2 could've even taken place before the events of Life is Strange or parallel to it, if they would've wanted to make sure there weren't any objections. :P

Dontnod said that they kept the save Chloe ending very vague so people could pick in their own heads who lives and dies. Keeping that as open as possible also made it much shorter than the other one.

Don't forget the third ending [Link]
While it wasn't included in the game (rather, it was scrapped due to not fitting the impact they wanted to create with the game), that doesn't completely cut out all possibility that the devs won't still decide use it as the canon ending regardless. Unlikely, perhaps, but still possible.
Also, given the entire premise of Life is Strange, there's certainly other ways to approach the matter. ('course, given the Captain Spirit tie-in, it feels like a change of protagonists is the most likely course for them to go with.)
The first game really wasn't a game designed to have a sequel (at least, post-scrapping of the third ending)- yet, given how good and original the first game is, here's fingers crossed on DONTNOD once again surprising us with something deliciously clever, regardless of what direction they take it.

Thanks for the link, I actually didn't even know about this. While going with that would've still had to follow the tired cliche "don't use your powers and let things happen" formula it would've still been less melodramatic than what they actually went with. The speculations section has a much better proposal for what the ending could've been so it wouldn't have been so goshdarn predictable from the start.
I'd go a step further and say that the game wasn't really designed to have a prequel either, and that Rachel seemed to be designed to just be this near mystical missing girl that everyone knew but you were never supposed to get that close to her. Of course Before the Storm isn't a DONTNOD game but still.

the original game mechanics and story are by far the best. i kinda enjoyed BTS but it doesn't live up to the first.
not even gonna try this one, it feels like they are starting to milk the franchise nonstop with side-stories. and i also dislike kids, so it's another reason to avoid it

Good timing since I've just finished BTS today.
IMHO both games are quite decent. In comparison, yes, BTS is inferior to original one, but it isn't a bad game. The mechanics were quite lacking compared to Max and her powers to rewind time, but it at least was original and the game felt like younger brother trying to be as good as his older one.
Personally I'm very interested how LiS 2 will turn out, because there is still a great potential to make a good game based on tested grounds, but it might also quickly turn into a cash-grab with bunch of DLCs and crazy amount of unnecessary content. If there is anything that I didn't like in BTS, then it was the deluxe upgrade that I don't really consider worth the price, even if I enjoyed the bonus content that it provided. I don't want to see similar thing in LiS 2, but we'll see how it turns out. LiS, both original one and BTS didn't disappoint, which is good, but if the franchise becomes produced on massive scale with half-baked characters, unoriginal stories and lacking mechanics, then we might quickly get boredom simulator.

My brother played both ... said the first game was better . ( i just watched them on youtube )
Then again the same studio came up with that Joke of a game Vampyr ... dont have any high hopes that they will continue the story in any good way tbh ...
It will probably suffer the overhyped cause first one was great ... and fall flat on its face

It's absolutely a cash grab, specially since they aren't even adding more episodes than the first had so they could 'justify' this increase... Ridiculous. :/

I'll wait until they announce a Mac release. Given the fact that Feral should have the port of "Before the Storm" ready THIS spring (it's already summer) I have a feeling that if and when the Mac version is there I can buy it for a big discount somewhere in the summersale 3056.

Holy Christ on a stick, are they serious? Unless the copy comes with a portable real life time rewind gadget, there is no way this is worth the price of 40 euros. You have quite an opinion of yourself there, DONTNOT.
On another note, I have played both LiS and the prequel game. While the game was a different and a nice change of pace compared to the usual licensing fodder Telltale releases, I didn't find it amazing or extraordinary. Just decent. Sure it had its flaws (bad writing, unbelievable and sometimes schizoid characters, weird pacing) but I've been noticing a lot of people are excited about the sequel like it's an announcement of some forgotten cult classic AAA game. There is definitely some passion and investment in the community and there is nothing wrong with that, but from someone who played all the games - what exactly did you find so good about LiS? Something that blew your mind and stood out. I'm curious to hear from others since I didn't feel a lot while playing it. It was just ok to me but not hella ok.

I'm also a bit dissapointed they didn't call it Life is Strange® this time

That's what happens when the fanbase completely ignores the bad in a game and just scream over the good - the company thinks they can charge customers anything and get away it. :D
To address your question, from what I've prowled around the internet I think large part of why people loved LiS was because of the supposed/implied romance between Chloe and Max.

Thank you for the heads up, Noxco and that's one game I'll be pre-ordering for sure. ^^
