Psychonauts 2 Crowdfunding Campaign Begins! *EDIT* And Announces Another Psychonauts Game!

Okay, so you like Psychonauts, right? Sure, we all do! But if you're like me, and I know I am, then you've been wanting a sequel for quite some time now. And its begun to look like total vaporware.

Well, Mr Schafer has launched a crowdfunding campaign for Psychonauts 2!

Theres some nice concept art up on the page, and confirmations that Richard Horvitz will reprise his role as Raz (look it may not be that big a deal to you, but it is to me. I like Mr Horvitz, hes one of my fave voice actors). And its one of those campaigns that has good rewards at good levels. And most important, its Psychonauts 2. Its a game that actually has a chance to happen now.

BUT....some things are bugging me. First, the campaign isnt on Kickstarter or Indiegogo. Its on a website called Fig, and I know next to nothing about it except that its a game-focused site that Tim Schafer is involved with. It makes the campaign seem less credible when its not on a well-known site. To me, anyway. Also, remember Broken Age? I don't know what yalls opinions on part 2 were, but to me? Part 2 ruined everything about Part 1. And that was the second half of a game that came out a year after the first half. The first Psychonauts came out in 2005. If he can tarnish a game with a part two that came out a year later, then what's he gonna do to a game that came out ten years ago?

That's my opinions that nobody wanted anyway, so yeah.

EDIT: first off, i just figured out how to edit forum posts. yay. second of all, theres a psychonauts 2 teaser trailer the character designs just look off with modern-day textures to me. what do you think, sirs?

EDIT AGAIN Tim pushed out an update. in this update, he announces another psychonauts title coming soon.

psychonauts in the rjombus of ruins picks up where the first game left off, wherein raz and the other psychonauts and also lili go to find truman zanotto and apparently he's in a place called the rhombus of ruins? i dont know.

what i DO know is that A.) we've got to buy a completely separate game to conclude the first games cliffhanger, something that psychonauts 2 is supposed to be doing, and B.) its a PS4 exclusive that also needs a Playstation VR wow tim, i at least expected your kickstarter to END before you started grubbing money. anyway here is the teaser.

guess the new policy of requiring projects to reasonably finish doesn't suit Mr. Tim...

And "just" $3 millions? Didn't he say it needs more than 10.

Together with the recent history that gets a big nope.

Now Im starting to dislike this developer, this is 3rd time I see him this year asking for backers :/

No way I am supporting this.
The original game was nice, but it was a crap console port. It has one of the worst FOV I have ever seen in a game. And nothing I have seen leads me to believe that it will improve.

I'M more interested in whatever happened to Beyond Good & Evil 2… it was the other "one of the greatest games that nobody played at its time" of the first half of the last decade.
Although I finally started playing through Psychonauts. We'll see if it really is that good. :)

bumping my thread because i added some stuff about rhombus of ruin to it.

any of our fears that tim's gonna run the psychonauts game into the ground may have been confirmed with this ps4 exclusive vr game. not a bonus dlc for psychonauts 2. a seperate, assumedly full-priced game.

I think it's fair to say that Tim Shafer is an incompetent asshole who doesn't deserve the reputation or the respect he currently enjoys. "Double Fine" is a perfect name for his company, considering that's exactly what they do to their customers.

i should be more excited about this, but my brain keeps thinking about broken age act 2.

if tim cant make a decent second half to the same game within the space of a year, whats he going to do to the sequel for a game that came out tenish years ago? i mean, i said that in the first post, but it bears repeating.

oh and also, this piece of investigative journalism makes me apprehensive about the crowdfunding.
