It wasn't featured on the front page for me yesterday, when it apparently went live ( I did see the thread in the discussion feed, but nothing on the front page, so I didn't realize it was an event until just now (and intentionally skipped the thread due to a combination of lack of time and disinterest in the baity titling) ).
I had the same issue with the holiday box event, where it wasn't showing on the front page the first day until only a few hours were left in it. Not sure if it's a local caching issue or something else, but it's possible that's a factor in things, as far as low early user involvement goes.
Another factor is the lack of an event link at the top of the page, like the holiday box event gets. I often only have a few seconds to check SG, so I usually just enter a few things that are ending soon, so another factor may be that- people just not scrolling down far enough to notice the event banner (I always do, to check the Deals feed real quick, though- which is why I get somewhat annoyed when people intentionally flood that category with spam or necroed threads).
I also know a lot of students are still home/on vacation for holidays, since university doesn't start in most places [in the US] until next week (it's usually the monday closest to the 14th [plus/minus a few days, maybe, depending on location] in all the several states I've lived in). That could be distracting both younger users and older users with visiting family.
It could also be the fault of aliens! Or, well, maybe not, but I'm out of other ideas now. :P

Isn't this entire site a game of chance? Entering to win a giveaway is pretty much the same thing as entering in this event, you just get one entry each day and you get the results right away.

You know, I thought about that. Yes and no. Entering for giveaways is like throwing a coin in a fountain and making a wish. You do it, you move on.
Scratching for things is like playing the roulette. It gets addictive. There is a frenzy to it that I don't want to get involved with on a deeper level. Like all the "Mystery" gambling addict anonymous trigger shit on Fanatical.
It's a personal opinion of course. It doesn't affect everyone the same way. I'm not protesting or anything. Just saying it's not for me.

It sounds like it should work on almost everything. The OP specifically mentions bundles. It just says that you cannot combine the coupon with other discount codes.
The coupons will work on the majority of games and bundles that Fanatical sells. This means you can easily use them to grab a Steam game for $2 or less for free, or you can save a couple of dollars on your next purchase.

Is it intentional that the banner states 'Find space cat for a chance to win $2 Fanatical coupons. Please wait 23 hours before playing again.' even if I haven't used my daily try yet? At first I thought it might be bugged and I don't get to play today but then I clicked the 'Play Now' link up to the right and realized I was allowed to play. It seems a bit confusing to me.
