After going through a recent event where someone very close to me was feeling depressed and suicidal, thought I'd make some GA's to get a point across. If you are feeling this way, there is help, and people out there want to help. You're not alone and you are cared about. If you are not of this state of mind, realize that you could be the difference between them getting help, or doing the unthinkable. You will most likely never know how, who, or how many you helped, but that should make no difference. It just matters that you were there. Go and be the best you that you can be. If anyone out there needs someone, i accept all steam friend requests and will reply as soon as i see your message.

Try and keep the thread alive for a while so that more can see it. May i suggest pictures of cats? Anything really.

I'm going to attempt to update this thread once again once a week, between Friday and Sundays.

Change log;
EDIT: http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/0evEo/an-update-and-moving-forward

EDIT: If you choose to bump with a GA, especially a higher level, and wish for it to be featured on the active GA portion, I suggest a week or longer running length. It can sometimes be a number of days before I can edit this to add new GA's. It's also super helpful if it's in

`[Your Name Here](Profile URL)` | `[Your GA Here](Link to GA here)` | Date Ending

formatI'm switching to a table format. Not required, but it would let me update the main post more, as it currently takes a while, which means less updates.

EDIT: Total number of GA's added to thread as of last update- 1687+
Note that this is likely much higher. From pages 54-94, I assume all trains to contain only 3 games, while they are likely much higher in number.
GA log of past record

I'm no longer going to keep a detailed log of past GA's. It was simply too much work.

The following, continuously updated, users are the real VIP's of this thread. They have contributed to the development of this ever growing thread, either through exceptional giveaways, an exceptional amount of giveaways, or relentlessly bumping the topic, even when it is/was in a period of disarray, and I wanted to thank them for it, not to cheapen anybody else that has contributed, but to celebrate them for it. Treat them kindly.

Hey man, this is a pretty long article, but I stumbled upon it a few days ago - it was pretty powerful to me.

Hope it helps your friend

Hopefully it ends with that article and doesn't catch on. I feel like it might just attract people who only want to feel good about themselves while ignoring the main point. Like any of those causes where they just intend to "spread awareness" aka new #KONY 2012

Still a good reminder for people even for those who aren't down such a dark tunnel, but facing personal obstacles!: )

Decided to make a giveaway to help promote this thread.

As someone who has been struggling with depression and anxiety issues for over ten years, this kind of thread hits close to home.

I suggest, to anyone that has depression or has a close person who has depression, to watch this video from Ted Solomon (it has subtitles in multiple languages, if you need them) - it has one of the best explanations of what depression is, how it feels, and how it impacts our lives.

Now go hug someone you love!

i guess i am still depressed quite a lot but somehow i am managing to deal with it by myself. but having someone there, even to talk about unrelated stuff, is very helpful... doing everything alone is really much more difficult

Bump.

Depression is a much bigger issue than we like to think.

Remember that even people who seem joyful and carefree could be suffering from depression. If a friend or relative acts differently than usual, try speaking with them. It doesn't hurt to make sure, and you could regret not doing anything...

Cheers, DesertMouse1. I respect your efforts greatly.

Although there's the case where people don't want to get helped (or so they think) and there's nothing anyone can do..
I've come to the realisation that if someone doesn't want your help, there's no way to give help (maybe with force, who knows, they'll thank you later.. or not).
Anyhow.. continue the good vibe..

I agree with you, except for one part. I think it's not that they don't want halep, it's that they don't want to ask for help. At least that's what I always had troubles with.

That is another case, yes, "dignity" or "self-esteem" doesn't allow us to ask for help, but I am specifically talking about even offering help and being turned down. Is it sincere? Do they honestly not want to get helped and want to continue winding down until..?
Or is their mind so dissolved from everything that happened that they cannot function properly and allow themselves to be helped.
Do you "force" help on them "for their own good"? Or do you just wait and hope?
I am not really looking for answers, I don't think there are answers. You do the best you think and hope for the best whichever that may be for either..

How about helping and disguising it as something else? Wouldn't, for example, chatting to someone who feels lonely help without it actually looking like help?

I believe that people understand and know when you are trying to help, no matter how much you hide it. Sometimes it works..sometimes it doens't..
I wrote that more than a year ago and you can read my before comment and my after reply, just above..
I still think one should try and help even though it may be kind of selfish in a way, in the manner that there's that guilty feeling inside, that tells you that you must do everything in your power to avoid being stuck with that feeling in the end. And sadly, sometimes, no matter what you do, you will be left only with that feeling of guilt in the end.. because you tried, or you think you did, but nothing worked..

I should read things more carefully. I'm sad to read your update and can only echo the Rest in Peace sentiment.

Thank you for replying, and sorry if my comment seemed insensitive. It's the exact opposite of what I'd like to achieve by reading this thread and learning about the subject.

I noticed you're reading (most of?) the entire thread and good courage-luck with that. I would take that a bit at a time as it can get quite heavy after a while and have the exact opposite effect.
I sensed your comment is coming from a positive side and your intentions are good and you/we should keep a positive attitude as much as we can.. I was merely pointing you to my own situation and how life works sometimes.. Hopefully there will be positive thoughts and help to some who read this thread and the replies..
So to conclude this comment in a positive way..
Than Kiou for the..echo..
