I never understand these uh.. things people do for something.
I have seen banners that say "5k run for autism awareness"
How does a 5k run bring autism awareness?
And other similar "march for so and so".. how do they help?
How does making giveaways help those who are depressed and/or suicidal?

I think this is about make people feel recognised. Saying we know you are there even if we can't reach you with personally we will think you exist. That's imo especially in depression is a good thing. One other perspective seeing that it's not only you but other people feel that may help you overcome. But i think in handicapped people part it is about us. For example the run makes you realize you live with people like that and society need to accept some rules to make it easier for that people and their families. That comes with again recongnition. Choosing to ignore is always easier for people but helping each other even a little can make a lot of difference. I won't judge anyone who disagree with this cause we live in a cruel world. I may sound optimistic i agree with that too.

Sometimes there are people who wish they were actually alone and there wasn't anyone who cared.
I don't trust all the people I run into, because of past experiences or because of past err.. knowledge.. It's hard to tell who needs help and who doesn't. Of course, in this age you can't help without them thinking you are either creepy or have a selfish reason behind it. or the people you help just end up being fakes.

Yeah, yeah, I'll necro a conversation because i'm seeing it for the first time. First off, ~this is how you do spoilers~, it looks like this. Secondly, Coming from a second-hand prospective, the thing that was bothering said person was that she thought that nobody cared for her, and she felt she was essentially alone, despite the facts to the contrary. In that sense, I didn't intend for somebody to get "better" by reading this, but knowing that somebody out there gives a damn has helped quite a few people that I've come across, even for a moment. It was also meant as a reminder to those that don't deal with these problems, and, having never experienced it, don't understand, or even see it, but realizing you don't have to understand it to help, you just have to be there.
As for the GA's, it's a well established rule that nobody reads a thread without a GA in it. That's why my original one was there. As for the other 600+, I never once asked for anybody else to create them for the thread. They just did. The reason why I put the name of the creator there in the post instead of the game is so that you can see at a glance that people care. It's not really about the game. Just the fact that somebody is there for you can be comfort.

After going through a recent event where someone very close to me was feeling depressed and suicidal, thought I'd make some GA's to get a point across. If you are feeling this way, there is help, and people out there want to help. You're not alone and you are cared about. If you are not of this state of mind, realize that you could be the difference between them getting help, or doing the unthinkable. You will most likely never know how, who, or how many you helped, but that should make no difference. It just matters that you were there. Go and be the best you that you can be. If anyone out there needs someone, i accept all steam friend requests and will reply as soon as i see your message.
Try and keep the thread alive for a while so that more can see it. May i suggest pictures of cats? Anything really.
I'm going to attempt to update this thread once again once a week, between Friday and Sundays.
