That's not new, nor has it been popular up until the media started to spin it as a Zombie Apocalypse. Bath salt abuse has been around for a while now, almost as long as RC's have been out on the market... In actuality, it may cause you to hallucinate and see weird stuff and usually, if you're not prepared, it's gonna be BAD. Most often they're having a bad trip and are trying to defend themselves, or see you as a walking cake that's begging to be eaten. Simply: They took too much man, too much... too much...

I personally don't understand WHY people would do such a thing... it has a HIGH mortality rate, cop-assisted or otherwise.

Grisly murders and pretty much grisly crimes have been going on forever, they're nothing new. Cracked has a perfect article about this.

It includes:

• Bath Salts (if you read the comments) are just a general name for a homemade drug.
• The "new LSD" as it's called is wrong, since LSD does nothing like that and in fact suppresses your hunger, I'm told.
• If there is any drug involved, it's more likely good old PCP, which has already led to cannibalism in the past.
