I like cats too much, so no thanks.
Dogs on the other hand- yeah, sure go for the throats! (I'll refrain though, I prefer chicken.) I would be pretty damn happy if a few Vietnamese people came here and ate all the stray dogs packs that terrify me to the bones every time I happen to be walking past them and they start barking at me for no reason. O_o

Well, that's an impressively tasteless choice of a discussion topic.

A friend of mine says that carnivore meat is too greasy, so cats would only be good for bacon. Me? I stick with my meat trinity: chicken; bacon; pepperoni. Picture me blessing myself when I say that; it's important.

In post war Germany it was sometimes the only way to get some meat.
But for the sake of human understanding of animal and pet they call it "Dachhase" in englisch roof-rabbit.
Hey and in India its illegal to sell and consume cow meat, so go and eat what you are like to eat.

in Italy it was in a weird way stated illegal in 1928 (adopted in 1929) to eat dog and cat meat, although there is a sort-of legal void on this matter so every judge can somehow interpretate the thing as he/she wants, and as everybody knows everything works like this in Italy..
anyways, my mother's family used to eat only cats, rabbits, rats and few other animals when we had been occupied by the Nazi troops (we're Northern Italians and they lived in the mountains that formed the southern border with the Allied troops for many months).. my grandmother used to cook cats even after the war, they had nothing to eat and our mountains had been devastated after the war with the German invasion, the American bombings and so on.. cats were among the few things they could eat to survive..
anyways even nowadays here it's actually not illegal, we have laws starting with the Mussolini ones that specify the animals that can be slaughtered and they clearly say that dogs and cats can't be slaughtered but they don't say anything about eating them privately.. our penal code has the article number 544 that as I said it can be vaguely interpreted and estimates varies from 4000 to 6000 cats eaten per year in Italy..
well, I think here in Europe (I can't talk about other cultures such as the Asian ones) it's been something really normal for what concerned war times, both in the past centuries and during WWII as others said about Germany and other war-torn countries..
nowadays.. well, I stick with the law that says that one can't slaughter those animals so it's illegal and I wouldn't definitely eat something hand-cooked by unknown people.. of course restaurants can't sell it due to the above reasons so you have to maybe know weird old guys that still practice this thing from decades ago and they're not trustworthy =P all in all though, we eat lots of horse meat (I hate it by the way but I'm almost vegetarian these years), rabbit meat.. but in Indian restaurants I can find only chicken and fish meat and it seems that only in Northern Italy and other Germanic countries we eat pork.. every country has its own things =P we should just stick with the laws and maybe make better laws than the ridiculous Italian ones..

Being picky in a post-apocalyptic scenario is luxury and meat is meat, but we're talking about a game (FO3) that thought it's legit that canned / boxed foods can feed settlements through 200 years so it should be taken with a grain of salt. (That makes food tastier)
Also it was a joke on the recurring dog companion named Dogmeat :P

I wouldn't actually, because I have cats as pets and it would be awful for me, but... I'm not against people eating cat meat, that would be so hypocrital for me. There are people who have horses as pet, but still I love horses, and cows are holy in some places, but I still eat them. Judging someone because they eat something I consider non-eatable doesn't seem right.

Eating cat meat is prohibited by law in Germany, unfortunately. I'd deffo try a bite or two.
