People were spamming their free DotA2 gifts they kept getting for contributor value until the site would crash. It needed to go.

Why don't you donate to CG to cover server costs if you want DotA 2 back. That way, the site won't keep crashing when the flood of gifts comes.

No one is stopping you form giving the game away by other methods. Also everybody that wants it, probably has it. It has been given away so much.

The internet is not a democracy. The site owner (cg) can do what he want and what he thinks is the best for the site. Make your own site when you want to make rules.

Why would there be a dedicated section just for Dota 2? Why the hell would they do that? Of course they can decide what is given away, there are rules in place for a reason. This isn't your site, news flash.

If you really want Dota 2, go check out Alienware. They have thousands of keys. And if you don't get one of those -gasp- the game will be F2P, and most likely releasing soon.

Would it be reasonable to enable dota gifts only for steam groups?

Whats the point when everyone now has DOTA2? All the copies they gave to people to give away and the 20,000 been given by Alienware Arena and there was another site that also had a lot of keys they were giving away. If SG still had DOTA2 activated, we would be flooded and overrun with DOTA2 copies to the point that, SG would be down and even slower then it already is.
