Will you consider the Epic Game Store your new default library?
According to a report from Reporters Without Borders for Press Freedom, Chinese investment conglomerate Tencent provides its government with FULL SURVEILLANCE of their users! They monitor their online conversations and chat logs. They track keywords. They also can identify specific users and follow them! In 2016/2017, the Electronics Frontier Foundation rates Tencent's services two out of seven, or Essentially Unsecure!
I would rather buy games from Steam, GOG, Microsoft, Uplay or Origin than Epic because of this. There is a reason Chinese telecommunication companies have been banned from buying US companies in the past. Why should this be any different?
I will support the devs on other sites but not on EPIC. I don't even like Fortnite.

Do you think Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Twitter, Whatsapp, FBI, CIA and so on don´t collect all the
data from their customers, users, citizens? They do! They all collect and process data nowadays!
I also think that more and more developers are from china, because this is a big growing market for
games (check it out on steam for games with chinese language). So don´t support them on epic but on steam?
Can´t agree to this!

Stupid question, are you guys able to get the game? It only says "Soon" to me

Yay, Subnautica! It's at the top of my wishlist, so I'm excited.

Steam was so much better some years ago, since then they were starting to treat their customers in a bad way, they tried to let us pay for mods, stopped region-cross trading and so on. Steam was for the gamers and now their main goal is profit, which is the main reason for those other upcomming stores. If epic won't do the same mistakes or Valve would go back to their roots I would be happy. Competition can only be good for the customers

Inb4 they change it into some Prime/Nitro member-exclusive thing.
But then, Chrono.gg kinda does this but for a limited amount of people. I wonder what's gonna happen if a million players gets them for free.

Where's the "Never, I'll stick to GOG thank you very much" option? I'm only buying new games from GOG from now on. I like to own my games, so Steam is for bundles, deep discounts, or games that aren't on GOG. Just like Twitch Prime, I created an account and I'll take the freebies, but I doubt I will ever install their client or spend money there. I've grabbed every Twitch freebie because I have Amazon Prime, but I honestly don't know what games I have there. I have not installed their client and don't know of a way to see games on your account without it.

Maybe I'll give it a try. I don't watch much streaming, mostly just official channels to see (pre)release streams. The Twitch viewer in a browser can be, well twitchy. I can watch YouTube at 1440p 60fps and do other things in other browser windows without a problem, but a 720p 30fps Twitch stream will buffer and stutter when I try doing something in another browser window.

to be honest, i can never use epic games, at least, seriously
my account got hacked 1 trillion times there, and i literally never went in except once
i think there is some information leaking

yay, subnautica was one of the few games I wished to try lately!

Nice. Steam is in dire need of some serious competition.

Was late on the one bundle - where Subnautica was removed due to limited quantity? I think it was one of the first moments I realized... maybe humblebundle isn't such a great thing afterall...
And yeah, lately with all their blunders, it's a circus there. They also think I'm a grey market seller, since I buy lots of the same games from them, so they usually won't give me any breaks when I ask about something - since I have given them a lot of money... over time. Oh well, their site, their administration, just like here... Can't change the powers that be.
Off-topic, but still bumping because I did wish to grab Subnautica one day. I still probably won't - and I'll get it on Steam eventually instead. It has... achievements! And CARDS FOR PROFITZ!!!!
I love profitz so much I have... about 700 inventory pages of cards... that I'm not marketing... haha.

I was late on that Humble, too. I would have bought it right away, had I known there was a limited quantity. It's good they're giving it away for free, because the Humble issue soured me on ever buying it.

We need more competition
Fixed it for ya. :P
We actually need more competition, as it's the main factor in driving innovation in a capitalist system. Without it, Steam would have no motivation to straiten up fly right.

It's not only about existing customers, but new ones as well.
Also you don't have to "leave" Steam to use other sites services. All it takes is people starting to buying things from other platforms to make Valve worried.

If they gave me the same games I have on Steam, I would consider it.

Steam will most likely stay my main launcher, but I'd gladly take the frrebies and if other stuff happens to have better prices...
