There's often a lot of talk about LoL vs DotA, or just one game or the other here. I responded in a currently going LoL thread, but thought I'd make my own post for visibility.

For anyone interested, week 10 of the NA LCS (North American League Championship Series) is going on today through Friday. A timer/calendar can be found here ("LCS NA: Dig vs coL" is the first match); standings and more info can be found here; and the official site is lolesports.com, which will have Twitch.tv, Youtube, and Azubu.tv streams available. The LoL subreddit is also a useful resource, as well as the related subreddits. If you have any interest in watching League of Legends, check it out.

Watching pro-level play is always interesting, and if you have any interest in LoL or just the genre, watch a game or two if you're in the mood.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I don't care about pro gaming. I only play bot matches in LoL at level 30. Thanks for sharing, though.

Cool, I'll check it out.

I don't get why you have to make it a competition, though. I like both games, but knew if I posted a LoL thread (which I did because other people were also talking about it), I'd get DotA-related responses.

I'm just posting so those interested can check out the tournament that's starting soon. If people don't want to, that's fine. I'm not trying to force LoL on anyone, or anything. And DotA is a great game too. yawn

Alright, to each their own.

Out of curiosity, what was it that you found so boring?

Support plays are not noticeable (are there support heroes there?),
It's more of a single player based skill instead of teamwork coordination. I see some teamwork in those professional streams, but those coordination can also be seen in normal games I see IRL.

Professional teams coordination in dota 2 is a rare sight or not seen at all in public matchmaking

Casters focus MORE on carries

I also notice that positioning is not an important factor in LOL, it's more "if you can dodge the incoming projectile, then your good"

Hmm.

Yeah, supports are definitely a thing, and I play it a lot. And the coL support is currently being a beast, involved in every kill and landing every skill. Quite impressive.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the second part, and I don't have anything to compare it to, but in my opinion there is plenty of good teamwork and impressive, coordinated plays.

Casters focus on the action and often that's the support making plays, although I do agree that sometimes the support gets forgotten a bit. :(

Positioning is extremely important. Someone being out of position can lose the game as the game goes on, and can snowball it early.

LOL games are not boring to watch... But you must have at least minimal amount of knowledge and skill to reach level 30 to enjoy them isn't that the same for almost any sport? If your totally clueless about the sport/game and know nothing about the teams/players it'd be boring till you get used to the game and get familiar with the top teams/players..

Btw NA LCS is kinda boring since most NA teams are worse than the other region top teams (EU/Korea/China), I get bored as well if it's not clg, tsm, dig or curse...

maybe coz theyv been around for more than 10 years? "well sc2 has very similar units/buildings to sc" Maybe that's something personal.. Usually I don't enjoy watching games that I don't know champs/heros/units etc and being familiar with the players is a huge plus to enjoy those streams..

For cs knowing the map would help a lot except that u wouldn't need to know much about the game i guess.. Also mobas are like 100x more complicated compared to fps like cs you need to know about like 110+ champs (every champ has 4 skills + a passive skill)and tons of items..
