I won a game recently and accidentally sent it to someone who won one of my giveaways and they already redeemed it. I marked it as received since I did technically receive it but I'm worried of what will happen since I didn't redeem it to my account.

its ok ...you won ...you recieved key and you marked that you recieved key ...good, only bad is that you lost your key ... but if you send key other than your giveaway (created by you) someone can mark that he didt recieved key after 1 week if you dont send him correct key/gift (sorry for my english, never learned)

Your English was fine, I sent the person I sent my key to the correct key. I'm the only one who doesn't get anything out of this and one person gets 2 games instead of 1.

I was at work, I sent out a few giveaways and received that one, copied and pasted a few times but I guess I missed a copy before a paste.

If you're that worried about being reported, maybe you can buy the game you won?

I'd rather take a suspension than pay full price for a bundled game :)

You can always trade for it.

+1 should be worth in trade items about the same as any bundle game

Won games have to be activated by you. You could either get yourself a copy and activate that, or take a suspension or whatever the punishment is.

Talk to support. I can understand how the C&P accident can happen, because I have done similar. Not with giveaways, luckily, but when C&P lots of stuff, and you thought you hit C then go to paste and it was the previous thing you C, not the new thing. Usually happens when my fingers are moving too fast while typing and I don't hit the C completely so it doesn't register the Copy command since the key didn't get pressed all the way. All you can do is show them the screen caps of the accidental email, and TALK to them, and see from there. Accidents happen, and if you are at work, doing stuff on steam/internet when you aren't supposed to, there is that added pressure that can make you easily slip up.

That makes sense, I'll probably just try that or hope it's in another bundle this week :)

If it's a humble bundle link, you (or perhaps the original buyer of the game, so the person who gave it to you) could contact support and ask them to remove it from the account. Then you activate it on yours.
Is that allowed?

It's not allowed, and having games removed from people's accounts puts strikes on it. The person who redeemed it did nothing wrong, he just redeemed the wrong key that the OP gave him assuming it was for the game he won.

It was a key, if it's possible to get a key removed from an account the other person wouldn't have a problem with that but I don't know if that's possible.

Hmm, damn, that sucks for you. You can try that:

Try contacting Steamgifts support to find a solution to get you out of this mess.
Buy the game again to activate to your own account.

I don't think Steamgifts actually cares providing no one complains, so if you eat the loss and the other guy is happy accidentally getting the other game and willing to mark it as gift received then that should be the end of that. Alternatively you'd be looking at a not received mark against you despite the other game he got.

Since Steamgifts doesn't actually take temporary possession of any gifts they can't really police it beyond fielding complaints and the negative gift not receved/sent marks against your account.

I was under the impression that if you win a game and its not in your library you can get banned? Might be wrong.

0_o never knew about that...and how would that relate to DLC since Steam doesn't really keep a record of what you have and don't have (at least I can't seem to figure out how to get such a list since I'm still missing DLC for some games...I just don't know which of the DLC it is anymore), it doesn't count as an owned game which Steamgifts checks for.

I'm hoping that only applies to people who win and then regift it to someone else in another giveaway.

It's not automatic. Someone has to notice and report the person. In my experience it usually happens when someone complains on the forum, people look at their profile and discover the complainer did something worse. Poe's Imp of the Perverse, basically. :)

Well I marked the one I won as received and I gave the person I gave the wrong key to the right key so I'm the only one who loses in this scenario, but I screwed up so I'm fine with that.

Then I don't see how there would be further issues.

Especially since you've gone the extra mile and given both games to the other guy so Steamgifts support should be understanding providing you don't giveaway the same game you should have received next week.

First, did you try talking to the person who activated the wrong game to have it sorted out? And based on your last comment, that person got both RIGHT and WRONG game?

EDIT: Removed second question.

I don't think there's anything the person who activated the game can do, and yes they got 2 games the right one and the wrong one.

Since you marked it as received, I take it it's the most recent win on your profile?

You could easily earn coins over on TremorGames.com for it. I just looked up its "cost" there. You'd likely be able to get it within a few hours/a day depending on your region.

If you have a win, that isn't found on your profile, it doesn't matter why, it is something that can get you suspended.

Obviously, it isn't the fault of the original gifter, so it would be rude to let them have a black mark on their profile, but unless you want to get the game elsewhere, you will need to deal with a suspension the next time someone mentions the lack to support, along with possible backlists.

If it is a game that has been bundled, it should be easy enough to get through trading.
