"A friend of mine is wierd and he says that games are what make someone mature. He's 18 and thinks that hardcore games are the only thing that makes friends(he also thinks I'm gay for having Q.U.B.E. or Portal)."

I call such people "idiots" instead of "friends".

How do "games" make everyone an adult? How can "games" be gay or not gay (except for certain genres like dating-sims)? This sounds like total nonesense to me, sorry to say that. On the other hand, 18 is still not much, so the guy might change his mind. :) For now I would say leave him - play and do whatever you like (as long as its within the borders of law/common sense) and enjoy your life. :)
