That only a early access, you don't keep access after the full release, isn't it ?

The runewords will be a whole new experience for me then. Jezuz the depth it seems to have. I never played around with that in the original.

I'm not expecting anything good from this people anymore... They will find the way to destroy this too.

It's not complaining, I'm just sad.

EDIT: They already removed the promised TCP/IP support

Probably an anti-piracy move as the last paragraph states.

"Piracy" is the boogeyman blizzard always used for their awful practices

Piracy can't be stopped, all the things these companies do, at best slow down how quick pirated copies become available, at the expense of their paying customers.

If there's 100K illegal downloads from TPB and the game costs $60 that's 600K lost, It's nothing to them to be honest, It's just a way to say F U buy the game or else. The Witcher 2 was one of the biggest illegal downloads at the time, didn't seem to damage them anyway, most of them were not gonna buy It at full price, It's the old "piracy is evil dilemma". It's a big corp and they're not willing to give you a taste of It. Left 4 Dead 2 was playable online with a pirated versión, can't even remember how. Maybe TCP/IP? It's been a while, game is so cheap nowadays.

Yah, they lose nothing from piracy really. In my experience, there are four types of people who pirate. One, people who won't buy the game either way. Two, poor people who simply can't afford to buy them if they want to eat. Three, people who've bought a game with DRM that is a broken mess because of the DRM, and four... People who want to demo a game to see if it's worth buying, since the majority refuse to give demo's. Gamers for the most part want to support devs who make good games, because if we don't, we won't get more games from them. Publisher's however keep screwing us and devs over with forced releases of incomplete, buggy games, and DRM crap that just makes things difficult, then complain about piracy because all that matters is $$$$, when it really isn't the case, it's their practices costing them money if anything.

Damn shame they removed the TCP/IP option. It was so easy to play modded games with other people that you couldn't do on open Battlenet. Since it's still the original D2 code, I am curious what the modding community will do with Resurrected. Either way, it is obvious that ol' Blizz is still butthurt over DotA.

And you're right... the botters and dupers ruined the original, and I expect the same to happen in less than 12 hours after it's official release. (This is why I've never bothered with public games in D3 since day one.) I've found from experience that the best way to avoid it as much as possible is stick with passworded games reserved for you and your friends, while staying away from trading with strangers, public games and public chat channels. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

My take on this, they will do a two step reforged with Diablo II, WHEN they launch Diablo IV. They learnt that they don't relay on the hardcore fanbase, they want more players, NEW players.

If you want mods, you will still have classic (for a while), but then they will shut down the original (free) servers, and will try to force Battle Net 2.0, with some kind of monthly fee, that will include some kind of "free" content (months of WOW, access to premium content for Overwatch 2, stuff for Diablo IV, that kind of thing)

Yeah... no. I'm not going to sub just to play Blizz games on BNet, and I'd be shocked if console players support such a move either. Let's hope you're wrong about this (but when it comes to Activision's greed, I'm not holding my breath). 🤞

I will try it, played only a little of original back in the day so this would be a good opportunity to test it. I don't like a genre particularly so don't plan to buy a full game, until heavy discount at least.

I have now done everything right.. and cannot get access to the beta. Twitch / B-net is linked. Drop claimed.

Restarted Client... All I see on my launcher is " Pre-Purchase"

No drop down menu's.. no beta opt in. Nothing. And I planned my entire evening on this.

Did you restart the Battlenet client after redeeming the beta?

+1 dude, +1...same thing, already contact with Blizz support, they said my account is not flagged for Beta, I send ticket to twitch support and waiting for their solution.
btw I've already desync & sync account with US one, 2 hours after my "winning". Still nothing, fock that!

Yeah I was greeted by the expected " Please link your account and restart client, yadiyada" response. So now I've sent 4 screens and an overly elaborate explanation - highlighting the fact that a copy paste response wont work. Something else is wrong.

But well.. Life is life. Computers are not people, and people are lazy. :) I'm gonna go have a beer and try again in the morning.

I'll be back Diablo and co

Any of you playing the beta yet? What do you think of it so far?

Besides the Amazon still looking overtly masculine, IMO, the graphics almost looks like Diablo 3. I thought about posting spoiler pics, but I decided to leave you all with this pseudo-classic teaser instead. 😊

I will stick with my original Diablo 2 CD and expansion. Activation and Blizzard don't inspire much confidence these days.

Just an FYI, I hope you still have the keys for your copy. I tried installing mine with the discs and I'm guessing it doesn't like modern hardware... so I ended up using the downloadable installer instead.

I was kinda looking forward to the remastered version for the controller support but then, I saw the preorder price: $54.99 CAD. Yeah, no thanks... I guess I'll just dig up my D2 Battle Chest the next time I want to play.
