I liked the Borderlands Tell Tale games. The FPS versions were fun, too, but a different genre.

I have the first one in my library, actually! I've been meaning to play for a while now, thanks for mentioning it, I must start it soon!

I am glad someone brought up the Borderlands games. They are some of my favorite games.
I feel, however, since you want story, I need to warn you that Borderlands 1 has almost no story, but it is almost required in order for Borderlands 2 to have the impact YourCat and I want it to have on you.
Borderlands the Presequel is kinda "meh" and you can totally skip it if you don't just want more of that gameplay because the story is unsatisfying when compared to BL2. Some story bits are sudden with no real build-up, others are drawn out, and others feel like they are just there to leave a check mark on a list. It isn't quite what we were told what we would get as far as backstory.
So, if you do go ahead and decide to give them a whirl, I would recommend getting through BL1 to fully enjoy BL2, then play Presequel only if you don't mind something only slightly better than BL1 in the story department.
Also, I totally wouldn't mind playing them with you if our available times line up :D

ahh wow, thanks so much for this! :D I'll definitely keep this in mind! I'll be sure to complete the first game!
thanks once again, this is really helpful!
and that would be really fun, but I'm sadly so busy with college stuff so it might be hard to do so! :(

You're welcome!! ^_^
I just didn't want you to skip BL2 because of BL1 being disappointing in the story department, or get burned like me from the Presequel (though it is still a fun game and I still like it)>
No worries, I was thinking the same thing. I don't have college anymore but am juggling 3 jobs, and doing applications so I can live off of just one job haha.

Yeah, I understand! :D well thanks again, that's really nice of you!!
oh damn! yeah, sounds like we're both pretty busy then! :\ but I mean, we could still add each other in case we do both get some free time in the future, or whatever? :D only if you wanted, I honestly don't mind! ^^
once again, thanks for all the recommendations!

Sent you an invite. If ever our busy schedules line up and we happen to be around the same level, I definitely wouldn't mind either :D
No problem!! ^_^

I -LOVE- the Batman games, and I'm a huge story-lover. I wasn't really into Batman, et al, when I started, but now I'm a HUGE fan. There is SO MUCH extra content in these games, giving you (option) background stories on every character and every nuance of the game... Definitely play them in the order they were released: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins, Arkham Knight. I have reviews of the last two, and I'm happy to give you tips if you get into the series. Feel free to add me on Steam ^__^

Some point and click games:
Syberia 1 and 2 (The first is better than the second. Syberia 3 is coming out in a few months)
The longest journey (altough only the first game is really good, the rest isn't that great)
The book of unwritten tales 1 and 2 ( both are really funny)
Deponia trilogy (the humor is hit or miss, but it has a nice story)
Just finished Kathy rain and it has a great story, but is quite short.
Wadjet eyes games (blackwell series)
Black mirror trilogy (only the first one is good though)
If you like Rpgs, some obsidian games like fallout 1-2 and new vegas are great. Their new game, Tyranny, is also great.
My favorite one, vampire the masquerade (however it has not aged very well without mods)

wow, these look like all great suggestions, thank you so much! I can't wait to get some of these, haha!!

If you can stand anime then go for some visual novels, especially those translated from japanese. Check out vndb.org to see their scores before you buy any cause there're many crappy ones lately.

I'm not really into visual novels, but saying that, I haven't played many! maybe I should check out some more! thank youuu :D

Alan Wake had kind of mysterious Twin Peaks / Stephen King type of story! Then there is the utopia of Rapture in Bioshock series (the story unravels quite nicely with the tapes you find). The storytelling style of Call of Juarez Gunslinger is funny though quite short. If you like your share of conpiracies and that stuff you will love the original Deus Ex :)

oooh wow, thank you so much! these all look great :o I can't wait to play!!!

Lots of good suggestions here. Oxenfree is pretty good for a story rich, sci-fi game. I'm also playing Deus-ex:Human Revolution at the moment and must say the story and gameplay are very well done. Thanks for he giveaway, haven't heard of this game, but it looks interesting.

thank you so much, I'll check those out :D
and no problem, it's a pretty cool game! I haven't finished it, but I'm liking it so far!

No problem, just thought of another one. Banner Saga had a really cool Viking-Norse mythology inspired story. The gameplay can be a bit slow to start off, but you get really invested in the characters. Plus the artwork is gorgeous. :)

The obvious ones> Bioshock games have an incredible story.
The not so obvious> Sunless Sea. The gameplay is somewhat clunky but the world and the lore is AMAZING (if you love Lovecraft/Dark Victorian settings)
The obscure stranger one> Future Wars: Adventures in time (Really OLD amiga/Early DOS point and click game) Terrible controls, pixel hunting, you will need DOSBox, but the story is supperb -Was made by the same people behind Out of this world/Flashback series-

Tales from the Borderlands is supposed to be excellent, and it has the same type of gameplay as TWD (decision based clicks and stuff)

thank you very much! yes, I've actually played a little bit of Thomas was Alone, I must finish it, I loved it!

Hello everyone!
I've just recently finished playing both seasons of The Walking Dead for the first time, and I adored both games so much! But now I feel like my life is lacking a good story-rich game to play!!
So, I'm just looking for some recommendations of good games with a good/interesting story within it! There's just so many games out there, it's impossible to just scroll through Steam to find one!
I've loved games like TWD, Half Life series, Portal series, Fran Bow, Mirror's Edge, Remember Me, Deadlight, The Evil Within, etc.
Also, as a small thanks in advance, here's a giveaway of The Fall!
