Hi,
I bought a game from TremorGames and get it as a gift. It was Left 4 Dead 2 and after I activate it and start downloading the game, AVIRA is showing me that there are viruses in my Steam-File.

First it shows me stdshader_dx9.dll and now there is the server.ddl a virus.

TR/Crypt.ZPACK.GEN.2 ??

What is that? Should I ignore or delete??

HELP PLS

PS: AVIRA never shows me any viruses in steam...

you definitely shouldn't ignore that... I would recommend deleting AVIRA immediately

if you downloaded the files from legit source, simply ignore the false alarm

another possibilities, your comp already infected by unknown malware then that malware infected your steam files, do a full scan

.. These are Steam games we're talking about. You don't consider Steam content servers a "legit source"?

Also, if it was malware infecting Steam game files (which is highly unlikely anyway, as malware usually targets known weak spots in OS's such as dll's or the registry in Windows, or the software the malware is packaged with rather than random games), it wouldn't do it as the game is downloading, but rather when the file was accessed and run. The chance of this being the case is right around the same as the chance a plane is going to land on your house within the next hour.

Sure, the potentials' there - it just ain't realistically likely.

Uninstall avira and get a real AV.

Get Comodo AV and/or Panda Cloud AV. High detection rates, low false positives. F-Secure's definately also a good option. So is AVG, particularly for people who want the least amount of hassle / popups and who maybe aren't so techy.

The cheap ones think certain source codes are all viruses, when there are known individuals that are. Steam is completely virus-free.
