I have played one of the Orwells before, and I think that a game that can come close in a sense is Do Not Feed The Monkeys. Addictive and scratches the spying devil itch in most of us š Has nothing to do with hacking though.

I've started that but def need to continue playing! Thanks!

From your owned games- Uplink (takes some technical knowledge), Simulacra (light on hacking, mostly going through someoneās phone), Else Heart.Break() (point and click where you can āhackā objects in the world. Check min specs)
Not owned: Quadrilateral Cowboy (you might own on itch.io if you bought their big charity bundles). Her Story (light on hacking, more of searching for keywords on a computer), Hypnospace Outlaw (not hacking, similar to Orwell in exploring a computer though). Donāt have personal experience but TIS-100 (and other zachtronics games) and Duskers might fit.
Also your giveaway works just fine :)

Have you played Quadrilateral Cowboy? I can't tell if it's more like a Sim or actually more computer based (idk if that makes sense but since you may be able to get up from the computer in 1st person, I'm worried about the graphics). Played Hypnospace and loved it waiting on the sequel!

I havenāt played it, sorry. Reading the reviews, it looks like an adventure game with puzzles. Thereās walking around as you mentioned with ācommand line hackingā on a computer as well. The graphics are 3D but look simple. It was made in 2016 if that helps you to determine whether you can run it (I just realized Else Heartbreak might not run). Iām looking forward to the sequel for Hypnospace as well!

There was an old freeware game called Decker that I used to play. This is NOT the game on Steam named Decker; it's entirely different.

Bitburner is a hacking game with some coding and maths.
my husband played it for quite some time and i even liked to watch and help him with that even though i dont know much about coding.
you should definitely check it out as it is free to play and doesnt need much specs

you will need some javascript knowledge, but they have a discord and the ppl are friendly to beginners
but the game is a idle type of game where you have the prestige mechanic

Recently I've found myself very addicted to hacking, point and click games. The problem is, it's very hard to actually find more games like the ones I'm interested in so I was hoping for some help. I'm looking for a fake hacking game (I really don't feel like doing more coding but I love hacking games so games like Nite Team 4 just felt like a chore). I particularly love Song of Farca, the Orwell games, Tech Support: Error Unknown, Cyber Manhunt, and Replica.
I have a really crappy laptop (it's literally a Thinkpad so no actual gaming specs) so I can't play more open-world games so I stick to those with lower spec requirements. And I can't play multiplayer games.
Also, I would love not to buy games so maybe if you see any in my library? Otherwise if they're cheaper somewhere (I am fine buying from grey markets, but no need to link that) I would really appreciate it. I've spent a lot of time online searching for new games so I hoped to maybe outsource it? And the very worst other people learn of this awesome genre.
Thank you all for reading this and maybe suggesting something so here's a giveaway!
First time doing an SGTools giveaway so let's hope it works. Min level 2
