Yup. Rise was a bit more predictable than the first game, but so far so good.

Right, but this is still the first official announcement for it. Everything beforehand was rumors and leaks.

Watch it turn out to be another mobile game or another Osiris style instead of a REAL Tomb Raider.

Last October, a Redditor spied the title "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" on a laptop being used on the Montreal subway. That name was all but confirmed earlier this year when more leaks showed several of a video game marketing firm's treatments of the logo, as well as concept sketches of Lara plundering Mesoamerican ruins.
[..]
The timing of Square Enix's announcement is interesting, and suggests we won't see a trailer for the next Tomb Raider game at either of this week's big events: The Game Awards (which go down tonight at 5:30pm Pacific/ 1:30am GMT) or PlayStation Experience (which will have an opening ceremony conference on Friday, December 8 at 8pm Pacific / 4:30am GMT).

Native American themed Tombs could make for a fun new twist to the experience. It'll definitely be a nice change of pace from the frozen mountain theme that seems to have persisted through the first two games.

I consider Tomb Raider (2013) one of the worst videogames I've ever played, so I can't be that much excited for this, but I'm happy if people were waiting for a sequel to Rise of the Tomb Raider

Really? I loved it from the start. You should try Rise of the Tomb Raider as it's much improved from the 2013 release.

It just shows how opinions can be different about the same thing :)
I honestly hated it, apart from graphics it didn't have anything to be praised for (platforming, puzzles, shooting, plot etc.), at least in my opinion. But it's absolutely fine if someone loves it. It's just not my cup of tea.

I actually liked it but i have to admit i for prefer the old ps1 and ps2 tomb raider. All of those games were so freaking tough and wow

I was playing angel of darkness before i moved here like 8-9 years ago? I could never finish it due to those pesky controlls. Haven't played the games before since they were relevant back in the days and i'm not sure if i will ever be able to play through them all even if i got em all on steam hehe.

They aged a lot and you shouldnt expect to feel what you could feel back in the days but i think they are still playable

The game was way to easy for me and they overdid all the falling/danger and way too many cut scenes. Rise was in my opinion far better in most parts but i did not mind the 2013 game at all.

Besides all the QTS, cutsceenes and the game being so piss easy i did not mind it. I did prefer the second one tho overall.

i won Rise of the Tomb Raider here, for which i am very grateful, so decided to play trough the first one and was not impressed at all, much more focused on action, with very little platforming and puzzle solving, if any.

hopefully they will put more tomb raiding on the new one.

RotTR is about the most demanding game my computer can handle (bottleneck's the CPU, not so much the GPU, so I can't fix it without some major changes). And they'll probably add some Denuvo malware again. So I guess, I won't get that game anytime soon. Maybe in few years. I do like the new Tomb Raiders, would like them even better if the gameplay wasn't so linear.

Do you mind if i ask whats your cpu, as i am thinking of buying RotTR but i am afraid my cpu wont be able to handle it.

Sure, my CPU is an AMD FX-4100. I know, it's pretty low spec, but it still works. And I just can't seem to find a good deal for decent CPU, especially since there's no Win7 support for all the newer chips like Ryzen, Kaby Lake etc (and I don't want to switch to Win10 anytime soon). RotTR runs okay for me, but I'm not that demanding when it comes to FPS and such. I've tweaked the options, lowering those that are known to stress the CPU and pretty much maxed out the ones that run mostly on GPU (I have an NVidia GTX 1060 card, the 3GB version, which seems to handle the game well, except for ultra highres textures which would need more memory - not that there's any visual difference between high and ultra on 1080p).

Ultra most of the time is a gimmick option that doesnt offer anything new. I actually also have a low spec cpu (g4600 3.60Ghz) and i am afraid that i will have more frame drops than i can handle.
Why dont you use windows 10? I was sticking to windows 7 until i found out that my pentium would work better with 10, after a ton of optimization and removing trash it finally worked as it should and i was amazed by the result.

I know enough about Win10 through installing computers for my colleagues to know that it's not any better or faster and certainly not more secure than Win7. It's just newer and it's where Microsoft wants us to go. In fact, it's not even an operating system, it's a freaking online shop, with online functionality built in everywhere. Microsoft themselves admit Windows is an online service rather than an operating system now. The GUI may be an improvement from Win8, but it's still atrocious. I know, there's ways to change the GUI (e.g. classic shell), but I doubt you can remove and change enough to stop it from trying to sell things and send data back to Microsoft. I know that Win7 has telemetry and calling-home functions as well, but at least there's a chance to stop the worst privacy leaks (by not installing some updates, running Ancile etc.). Also Win7 is not my primary operating system, I have all my work stuff on linux and only use Win7 as a dual boot option to run a few games and software not available otherwise. Over the years I learnt to set it up so it runs pretty fast and well as a secondary OS, so I'm not gonna change that unless I absolutely have to. Which takes me to my biggest issue with Win10: the forced updates. I simply can't have a system where the next update might change the rules. I had collegues and friends who literally had their system setup trashed whenever the next big anniversary-whatever update was pushed by Microsoft. Up to the point where they had to set up again everything from scratch. And even if there won't be any technical issues with updates like, ever (not likely, it's Microsoft after all) ... they might just decide with the next update that some feature is going to be a paid online service.
