In your opinion, what makes a perfect open world game?
For me:
-A story, like Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider , which throws you into the environment and make you feel like you are in the open world
-A world that feels alive, like Assassin's Creed Unity and Skyrim, which shows how dynamic the game can be and how the AI's actually interact
-Combat, have it feeling smooth whether it be FPS like Far Cry, fantasy like Skyrim or CQC like Batman Arkham series
-Collectibles and side activities, like Assassin's Creed series and Batman Arkham series, great time wasters that just fill your time while exploring the world
-Beautiful world, like Child of Light and Brutal Legends, which just makes your stare at it a bit and get lost in the sights
-Player choice, Like Dues Ex:Human Revolution and Skyrim, where if you want to feel part of the world, your choices should have an impact
-Size of the world, not small like Costume Quest and not huge like Fuel, but a size that encourages you to explore like Just Cause 2, Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag, Skyrim and X Rebirth
-Prospective, allowing you to change your person of view from third person to first person like in GTA5 and Skyrim/Fallout
-Some online feature, whether it be co-op/PvP like Dead Island/Far Cry or Invasions like in Watch_Dogs/Dark Souls 2
-Side activities/quests/missions. Skyrim did this perfect with a lot of fun, interesting quests. Saints Row did this with outrageous and fun side activities. Sleeping Dogs did this perfectly with a variety of side missions
-No player hand-holding or linearity, like Assassin's Creed Unity (Murder Mystery and sand box missions) and State of Decary where it is up to the player to play things their way
-Consequences, like Shadow of Mordor where something happens when you fail (like death and the nemesis system)
-A player's home, where you build, create and expand on it to make it yours. Like in Skyrim/Fallout, Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, World of Warcraft (Garrison)/Rift, Minecraft/Vox and Assassin's Creed 3
-Most importantly, a main character(s) that you actually feel emotionally attached to like in Red Dead, Sleeping Dogs, Assassin's Creed (Ezio), and Final Fantasy 13
What do you think? What makes a perfect open world game?
