To be fair there's a lot left to be desired with current Star Citizen game mechanics.... mainly that people who were drunk out their asses with a bottle of whiskey in them can easily fight using mouse and keyboard drifiting as a turret at 10m/s....

In short, lots of balancing and readjusting gameplay mechanics have to be done.
Speaking as someone who's tried it, I find it frankly retarded that the way it's setup is that you fly and aim your guns at same time (like being both the Pilot and Gunner of an AH-64 Apache at same time, which is disorienting as hell). For a game that once cited realism, it's very unrealistic to have the mechanics function like that for solo ships. You'd link your gimbal weapons to a targeting computer without a dedicated gunner, otherwise you'd just end up with a massive headache as you fly into an asteroid confused.

Isn't the auto cannon linked to the pilots or gunners head movement? Don't see why that wouldn't work.
I guess I have to see for myself, perhaps they will have changed it by then, it's an Alpha after all.

To the gunner (which is why most Attack Helicopters have a pilot and gunner and even some aircraft), but try flying and gunning at same time in real life? You're going to have a bad time! XD

EDIT: Might be worth tracking down a few friends who play with Joysticks (specifically HOTAS) and get to help you troubleshoot. Then probably may be worth getting a few pilots to play with you to at least teach you "Schwarm" Squadrons with the highest efficiency ratings all use teamwork.

I hear you, find actually free Flight very enjoyable. Trying to remember what game it was but taking a F6 Lightning from the runaway to the edge of space was both exciting and peaceful at same time.
Might have a look and see if I can find some old flight/space sims that you might enjoy. If anything just to fly around in.

as title says, have one arriving tomorrow and would like suggestions of what to play. It's primarily for use with Elite Dangerous, but I figure I might as well get more use out of it.
I hate hate hate hate (x1000) historical flying sims. I don't want to pilot a bomber from WW2. I like sci fi futuristic stuff, I'm planning on using it with the star wars pod racer game as well, and basically anything that takes a little more creative freedom than just recreating old planes. Single player missions are a bonus, as I will be terrible to start with and could do with something holding my hand in the beginning.
