I want to buy a new mouse-pad but don't think it's the type of product that justifies paying extra for a well known brand. A while back I bought a cheap mouse-pad that was fine, except for the fact that it had strong rubber odor. I ended up not using it for this reason, and it seems the same issue plagues many other cheap pads sold on eBay. Any recommendation for a mouse-pad that's cheap, good and odorless?

Thanks!

Update: I cheaped out and just took an extra mouse-pad from my company's helpdesk (and yes, they know it's for private use). It's smooth, stays put and doesn't emit any odor. So yes, it's branded with my employer logo, which is not something I need to see off work hours, but I don't tend to look at my mouse-pad, so not an issue. So far so good :-)

I prefer to buy mousepads with a wrist pillow, because better safe than sorry. :P I have a mousepad similar to this one. I got it for a much cheaper price though, so just do your search and I'm pretty sure you'll find a much cheaper one. Plus, it's odorless. It doesn't smell of anything.

It doesn't smell anything.

You should be very worried if it starts doing that!

It doesn't smell of anything.

The way you originally wrote it makes it sound as if it's alive and has a nose and can smell stuff. :D

I know, I just thought it was also correct this way, because I've seen people saying it that way. xD

I might be wrong but I think it's supposed to be:

  1. "It doesn't smell like anything" to indicate a complete lack of odor.
  2. "It doesn't smell anything like rubber" to indicate that although expected to have a certain odor (rubber in this case), it doesn't have it.
  3. "It doesn't smell anything" to indicate a certain "it" (an animal for example) has no sense of smell or that it cannot smell something.

Ναι και όχι.
Κανονικά θα ήθελε ένα of ή ένα like εκεί ή αντί για anything, at all.

Ξέρω και καταλαβαίνω τη διαφορά, απλά νόμιζα ότι είναι και έτσι σωστό, μιας και το'χω ακούσει πολλές φορές έτσι. xD

Roccat Alumic. I ditched multiple mouse pads because i didn't like the friction or they changed in friction and feel after a while of getting dirty.

The alumic is stupidly expensive (40€), but the first i like in all aspects. It's hard, has 2 slightly different surfaces that are smooth and even, feels cold and dry with sweaty hands, the palm rest is optional (no use to me) and it's easy to clean.

Feeling is very different to a normal mat though, so i'd recommend to try it out if possible before buying.

I use a Perixx DX-2000L, which I got for like 7 bucks off amazon.
It's comparable to name brands, but at a lower price.

I'm using a Roccat Taito and it doesn't smell at all. Great mouse pad! At first I wanted a QCK but I got this because it was a lot cheaper at that moment: about 12€ for the 5mm king size mat. Smaller versions for even lower prices. You may want to compare prices though - they really change a lot (at least on the German Amazon, the king size is currently 25€ :/ ). All I can say is it doesn't come with a strange odor and it's an awesome mat with different sizes - grab it if you find it for a reasonable price.

I have my Razer goliath XL (speed version) or whatever is the one that has almost 1 meter long for a little more than 4 years and i have to say that it was well worth it. So i would advise invest in a good pad, if you don't care for Razer i am sure there are other brands with good options too, i just speak from my experience.

Worst case you can make your own (that is what a friend did), but unless you are very short on cash/cheap i don't recommend it. The final product is not bad but is not the same, one is foam with fabric and the other is more like a neoprene or whatever.

Go to your local dollar or euroland shop. They have a lot of mouse pads there and you can smell for yourself :)

As for the suggestions the first was golden and pointed me out to this one (it's a bit bigger than the one suggested). Only the shipping costs of another 14,99 stopped me for buying it myself :P As to the why, SteelSeries has good reviews and also makes the most populair mouse pad in the Valve Store. When price is the point, just go to a local business event and grab all the free mouse pads you can get your hands on and smell them at home? xD

If it doesn't work long term I'll just follow the suggestions on this thread, starting at the dollar store ;-)

Mine smelled for a few weeks and either I stopped noticing it or the smell went away. It has no smell now but it's about a year old too.
