i purchased one very similar from eBay for around £5, and it performs almost identically to my friends razer, so i think you should save the money, unless that 0.001 ping difference means much to you?

i'm sorry, your link went straight to homepage for me. so i was speaking in general. I was using a razer look-a-like mouse, and my friends is the genuine article, with little to no performance increase.
Sorry for the confusion

very nice, i got similar to the death adder, a cheap Japanese thing that works surprisingly well. ALMOST as good as the real thing. for 1/6 the price

I thought about purchasing Razer Imperator, but then i saw than millions of people had problems with the 4g sensor, and then i thought... oh, fuck it. Then i thought about Getting Razer DeathAdder, but then i saw the Steelseries Ikari Lazer, and i purchased that one, because of it's erganomic's - just great shape, can't fish for anything better i'd say, got it in combo with Steelseries Qck+ Large mouse pad, which is just huge.

do gaming mousepads really make much of a differece? i usually dont use a mouse pad

Gaming mousepads not so much, a good quallity mouse pad - yes it does. If you use a mousepad, you will have a lot longer lifetime of your mouse, the mouse will also slide great and you'll be a lot more precise, so i suggest start using mousepad, they are not that expensive, bought mine which is really good quallity and is super large, for 13 pounds. :)

If you can find a cheaper one, go for it, but don't go for the $3 and so ones, they are a bit crap and small.

I edited the post above and added link, the link you gave has Product Dimensions: 32 x 27 x 0.2 cm ; 73 g, but the one i listed has 450 x 400 x 2 mm dimensions, which is a lot bigger, because 320 x 270 is too small for me ( thats what she said, lol ) that's why i took the bigger one.
450 x 400 x 2 mm

If you must choose a good keyboard I'm consulting with a keyboard jacks and macro keys, watches as the hardness of the keys according to what you prefer, the key "hard" and then those or you just need a little touch. We must also look at the number of keys that can be touched at the same time (usually at this price you can reach large enough at the same time) And finally if you want the keys back-lighting or not (the price varies enormously for the same keyboard with one that flash and one without).
And sorry for my bad english, I'm French :p

I recently purchased new gaming gear, and part of it is Razer Arctosa, not that expensive and performs just great, only downside is that you can barely see the letters if your lighting is not that good, but it's not a downside to me as i don't look at the letter when writing. If you think that your gameplay and skill level will increase because of a 100 bucks worth "gaming" keyboard, you are wrong, even the professional gamers tend to use default keyboards that cost like 10 bucks, it's all about marketing. What i suggest you to do, is to buy a keyboard that feels good for your hands, is ergonomic egnought and shit like that, not the " respond time which is bullshit. If you haven't got a good mouse already, then i'd suggest you to buy a good mouse that feels good in your hand and got some more features, keyboard is not so important. I don't even know why i wrote all of this crap, just felt like doing so, bitcheeez

i was originally planning on that one but then i decided i wanted a mechanical keyboard, i will consider it thanks.

it will be for everything, how do mechanical keyboards feel different? been meaning to test one but not got round to it.

I like my Razer Lycosa. It's not mechanical though. Had it for about a year and half though and has lasted quite well considering how much it goes though. Though with my Naga dying about year after I bought it I now question Razer's product quality. I do agree with the above though, you can get a good keyboard for far less than 79.99 and have it suit all your needs.

i was looking at the razer arcosta which is lycosta without lights if i dont get the blackwidow thats what i will go for.

If you want epic keyboard for a good price , go for a Lycosa. If you have large amount of money get a black widos. If you're almost poor get Saitek eclipse and enjoy.

I've been using the Blackwidow since it's release and it's quite a nifty keyboard. Very comfortable to type with, good durability (suffered more than enough bashes from my 'OMFG I SUCK SO MUCH' BF3 sessions) and the ability to macro all of the keys is great.
Although, I warn you: when you first start using it, some time will be needed to adjust, I believe the keys are slightly more to the left/right of other keyboards and I'm only just used to it: Switching to different keyboards and keeping the same key accuracy is still '50/50' to me though.
I use it for gaming and college work, with some programming on the side and I find it perfect. I feel as though it's like my Razer naga: once you have and are used to it, you'll never want anything else. Except maybe the ultimate... It glows. Lush.
TLDR: Awesome keyboard. Buy the Naga as well: helps in MMOs a great deal and makes weapon switching in FPS a tad easier.

tt certainly will be strange at first i should think been using my laptop for last 3yrs. Thanks for your reply, for the mouse not too keen of the naga the side buttons would really annoy me i think.

i realy like the BF3 one but its almost double the price of normal blackwidow and im not prepared to pay that much!

Meh Razer. IBM Model M all the way. Typing on it right now ;)
Born 02MAR89 and still going strong. The 2KRO makes it somewhat bad for gaming though... Can't crouch, move and jump at the same time >.<

I've had the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate, it was my first mechanical keyboard ever and performed quite well.
On the other hand it did feel relatively overpriced.
If anything, I'd most likely purchase this

but do not want to ask my parents for the money and am looking for a job.
