And counter strike is too arcadey for me. My gaming community is about 60 people who spend at least $1000 on each of our PCs and we LOVE the ArmA series because of its realism. To be able to simulate life in such accurate details as some games manage to me and my community is a miracle and true worksmanship and an extreme show of talent in the game-making industry.
All in all it coems down to preference. Some people like the arcadey shooters we've seen made for dacades. Some people have grown tired of that and want some realism. For me, a lack of realism can often equate to not having fun, as far as certain genres afford though. But I sure can enjoy unrealism in genres like fantasy and sci-fi, where I believe it fits =) Though in shooters I believe realism is needed, to provide a sufficient challenge, otherwise the only "skill" is in exploiting bugged or poorly designed game mechanics to get an edge, and that is the difference between a puzzle and a rubix cube. Each puzzle is different, requires patience and talent. Each rubix cube is the same, you just need to figure out the initial puzzle, and then you've found a consistently repeatable pattern for success.
TL:DR: The fun IS the realism. It's preference. Some people enjoy realism, some people don't.

As realistic as shooters today gets, and according to all my veteran friends and family, that = pretty darn realistic.
Unless you know of a virtual reality simulator infantry military experience that blows all others out of the water and is 100% to the dot realism that I am unaware of? If you do, might as well share it Mr.Sarcastic Jones. I want in if you've got it. My wallet is ready.

Sadly, your "veteran friends and family" must be lacking in real combat experience. FCS Training Applications aren't for layman users, DARPA is exclusive. As well your logic almost makes me think you feel the same way about Full Spectrum Warrior. xD
It's a video game.
Great related sig:
ArmA2: "Doc, I'm wounded, I can barely aim and I'm bleeding badly, come on pull my body out of the harm's way and treat me before I die!"
ArmA3: "You are wounded! Click to instantly regenerate health whenever you feel like it!"

You must just be a troll looking for an argument, because you completely missed a few key words and phrases that were my exact points.
"As realistic as shooters today gets,"
"infantry military experience"
These two quotes sum up my exact points about the "realism" of ArmA, and you have successfully ignored both of them. Are you just trying to start needless arguments or did you just not want to understand what I wrote? I don't understand.
This is all ignoring the fact that you are one of the only people I will ever meet that NEEDS an explanation as to how ArmA is realistic to begin with. And me stating this, is assuming you are in fact NOT trolling, but simply failed to understand my original statement to begin with.

Mate, from the same guys you have VBS3 that is used by army for real militar simulations VBS3
And then you have the comercial version that is Arma 3, offcourse the realism depends on the Mod you play and the settings the server has.
Just search some videos on youtube by Arma 3 Milsim example and then tell me if you find any other militar simulator better than this.

I'm sorry I'm not at liberty to discuss Future Combat System simulations.

from what I hear you need a monster system to run it well, and have to study for a few hours just to play on a semi- potato level.

My question would be, why want 120 fps on anything? I have tried a 120 hz monitor and I couldn't tell the difference between 60 and 120. I can't even see a difference between 40 and 60. 35 and under is when I notice a difference. (If motion blur is on, then 27-35 once again lacks difference from 60)

It is not an easy FPS so most people do not play it for that reason, too many get soft from playing easy stuff like CS-GO and COD.
I would have it but my net is not good enough for online play :(
I love FPS that requires thinking and planning and actual team play,no Rambo shit in this game unless your playing some real shitty payers.
It is fun to play and is popular but i think more people still like ARMA II so a lot still play that.

If I had it I'd play with ya fellow Bundle Quester.

I actually have that game, I was lucky enough to win it here, but I have not gotten around to playing it yet... Currently more of a casual gamer cause I can only put in half an hour here or there when I find myself with some free time and I think proper Arma requires more devotion and coordination with other players...
