For the sake of this thread, one drink is roughly equal to 1 bottle of beer (330 ml / 11 oz), 1 glass of wine or 1 shot of spirit.

I don't really drink, but it takes about 2 to get a buzz.

Much of it depends on body weight (and as a result, gender), but I decided to keep the poll simple.

Some buzz is definitely there. Although, I drink alcohol only like 3-4 times a year on a very special occasions, and no more than a couple of glasses of wine.

330ml is a pathetic excuse for a bottle, that's the size of a can of coke or some such.

i get dizzy and even more stupid with one small beer (around 330cc).
1 small glass of liquor also destroys me. mint liquor is my favorite <3

I'm surprised that's even possible from such a small amount, especially for someone who's not new to liqueur.

It is. I feel alcohol effect after 0.5L of beer. And it stays that way up to the equivalent of 0,4-0,6L of whiskey/vodka when speech and balance starts being affected (depends on eating and drinking tempo)

You forgot soft drink :) - As a diabetic I get a huge buzz from any soft drink with sugar :P

Heh, you can have both, many beers are full of sugar (and with high glycemic index), as you surely know.

I haven't had a drink in forever.
When I did drink, I'd drink a pint or more of vodka before work at 6am, if that's any indication.
It's also why I quit drinking.

Well, a pint of vodka is the equivalent of 10 drinks, so some buzz is expected ;-)

For the record, when I drink by myself (that is, not in a social setting) it's usually half a shot (less than 20 ml), but since by your standards I'm "delusional" for thinking that I drink for the taste and aroma and not for the buzz, I decided not to continue that discussion. It's unfortunate that your attitude is so dismissive and disrespectful of others.

i think you misunderstood my statement.
i meant it as an universal social statement.
i apologize if i have offended you personally .
but its still my opinion that most people mainly drink to get drunk and only secondly for the taste. (if at all for its taste)
we could also discuss broadly about drugs and how they affect individuals and societies.(but alcohol would not look good in this discussion)
again, its just my opinion i didn't mean to offend you personally with the statement that i think its a delusion that people think that alcohol tastes good.

You may have been exposed only to people who drink for the buzz or to get drunk, so you must be unaware of the many people who are actually not too fond of the intoxicating effect of alcohol, but love the taste, aroma and complexity of beer, wine and spirits. So much so that they slowly drink small amounts, skipping the intoxicating effect completely.

There are numerous websites dedicated to the fine qualities of alcoholic beverages, with very detailed reviews and tasting impressions but normally not a word about this other effect, not because it won't be there if one drinks larger amounts, but because it's simply of no interest. After all, one can get intoxicated with any cheap drink, so why spend a lot of money and slowly drink such small amounts if that prevent getting any intoxicating effect? Think about it.

If you're willing to open your mind and read a bit you may be surprised with what you find, but you won't change your mind if you dismiss everyone else as being delusional.

i'm not denying that there are people who have drinking habits like you describe them.
but they are clearly not the majority.

you seem to be stuck on my delusion statement .
i'm delusional too, i have the same delusion about coffee.(coffee tastes bitter caffeine is poisonous. but i love it. )
a huge amount of people in this world have delusions about spirituality or consumption.(like belive in a god or believing that owning stuff makes you happy.) delusions are a very human thing.

dismissing someone else's opinion is kind of the foundation of an argument if you think you are the one who's correct.( and i strongly believe that i am correct with my belive that naturally humans aren't very fond of alcohol taste and that we make ourselves think otherwise, the same goes for coffee or cigars and all kinds of other stuff.)

and all this doesnt have much of an effect on my opinion about you as a person.
but it seems that it had a negative effect on your opinion about me.

Voted "No". Also, 500 ml bottle of beer is the standard where I live (and we're still first in beer consumption per capita). 330 ml is considered a "small beer" here.

I drink 2 or 3 glasses per year, and they mostly give me insta-headaches. So no, I don't really drink.

Generally no, but whether I get a buzz from two or more depends on the alcohol content.

The only drink so far that can get me buzzed from one drink is if it was champagne. I think it has something to do with the bubbles.

Otherwise, no.
