So I just saw Totalbiscuits Steam Summer Sale Picks under 5$ and I was wondering about Fallout New Vegas.

I've never played a Fallout game (although they really catch my attention) and, according to his opinion, it is the best narrative driven/built of the series.

Question is should I go just for the base game or go for the ultimate edition? Since it is a on a really nice pricetag I might pull the trigger on it.

Thanks for your time reading all of this and sorry there's no gib this time :(

Should I get the DLC?

Yes, pick the Ultimate Edition
Nope, it's not worth it
Just a few of them are worth it (please explain in comments)

Way better deal than changing your mind later. I think Ultimate is worth it if you like Bethesda games and plan to invest a lot of time into exploring the game and not just rushing through the main missions.

Yes, absolutely. I haven't played all the DLC but Old World Blues alone is 100% worth it. Dead Money was pretty cool as well, kind of gave me Bioshock vibes

it's awesome and the last 2 dlc are great, old world blues + lonesome road (unlike the trash dead money is).

You can have a lot of fun with the base game already, so if you are really, really short on money, you can just buy the base game and ignore the DLC, since you can spend at least 100 hours with just the base game. However at least 2 of the 4 story DLC are widely praised (I like them all :P) and each dlc also adds 5 levels to your max character level, which is quite nice.

All in all the Ultimate version is absolutely woth it. Though if you don't think you'll play for more than 100 hours or want to spend the 7,50Euro elsewhere you can pass on the dlc.

If you are from Eastern Europe you will get a filthy RU tag near your game.

Fallout: New Vegas is the best of the Fallout games imo. So I would definitely buy the ultimate edition.

Some of the DLC expansions are pretty good and add in hours of extra gameplay as well as new weapons and armour that don't show up in the base game. They also subtly tie-in with each other if you pay attention. If you're looking for the whole experience I'd recommend the Ultimate Edition.

It depends on how much time you think in investing in this game. I have 75h with only the base game. If you think in playing with one DLC, the Ultimate Edition is the way to go

If you want the game, then just spend the extra and get the Ultimate Edition. The Old World Blues dlc and hardcore mode were the ONLY things that made the game worthwhile to me. Otherwise, I personally disliked New Vegas. It just didn't FEEL like a Fallout game. The atmosphere held nothing like Fallout 3 and 4 did. It was sparsely populated, very little in scenery, not much in the radiation spots, either. It's set in the Mojave Desert, which is just a bland setting. It had no post apocalyptic feel, the buildings looked more like it's an abandoned setting rather than nuclear blasted.
Plus the factions were asinine in that one. How hard is it to not realize that you are the one they want to kill just by putting on their armor?

Not to mention, Obsidian made the game, not Bethesda. That should explain why it's a constant buggy mess.

Despite the fact that it says I played 280 hours of it.

But, if you want to get it, who am I to stop you?
