What are you talking about?

Fortix is not on sale and is $1 for $1 CV. Just Cause is $0.27 for $7 of CV; that's why it's on the bundle list. It's not the fact that it's cheap, it's that the discount is too high.

Rules say nothing about "the discount is too high". There is only about bundles.

Then that Iron tank sim game should be bundled since day 1 of sale.

It's 90% off, not a bundle game. So if indeed the 95%+ thing is a rule, it wouldn't apply.

"Wondering about the asterisk (*) next to certain games? Click here to learn more."

We rolled out a few important updates to the site today.
The first major change is the way contributor values are calculated. In short, the update limits giveaways that might have originated from a bundle to 20% of your total value (Note: Giveaways created prior to a bundle always receive full value). Please review the threads from earlier in the week for the full details. Keep in mind, we'll continue to improve this system as time goes on.
There's no longer a restriction on what games can be given away, assuming they're not guest passes or beta keys. Anything found in the drop down menu when creating a giveaway is allowed. If you're gifting a game from a bundle, please review that bundle's terms of service to ensure you have permission to do so. If you believe a giveaway needs to be removed, please use the report button. There's no reason to post accusations in the comments, and users doing so may be suspended for inappropriate behavior. We'll review reported giveaways, and remove them if necessary. The new system will ensure contributor values are not overly inflated by bundle games.
Thanks to everyone in the community for all the feedback the past week, and I believe we created a system that's fair for everyone. It still leaves room for improvement, and there are a number of great suggestions in the previous thread we'll be exploring in the coming weeks.

That's not true

Yes it is.
It does not say "prior to it being added to the bundle list", it says "prior to the bundle".

I'm fully behind Just Cause counting as a Bundle..... Think about it, seriously. I mean... $27 for 100 copies of Just Cause, $27 for $700 CV value? No, just, no, that's not right at all, giving it bundle value is the proper thing to do.

Those were very short term pricing bugs, TW2 was also regional only.
This is a long, easily exploitable sale. That is why :)

Youre right again but i started to think that discount is a sale strategy.Look how many copies they have sold in hours i dont think they could sell if the discount was not that huge and if thats a real bug is Valve sleeping? Thanks for arguing TheShobo in a respectable way...

If you're gifting a game from a bundle

But JC is not a bundle game! Yes, it has a huge discount, but many games on this sale have similar discounts like -80, -85 percent, so why only JC is marked with *?? It's totally contradicts the current rules of this site.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Anything with a discount of 95%+ will be added. I'm consistent with that rule.
Tryst was bundled for the same reason awhile back.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not complaining, but perhaps this rule should be added to the FAQ or guide to bundle games. It's pretty hard to find, or not written in an obvious place that I can find anyway. I had no idea it even existed.

Permalink

Because there is no that rule. It was invented 30 minutes ago.

Honestly I have never seen this rule anywhere either. Just went through the entire FAQ and I am still searching for a forum post regarding this. Wish me luck.

Really now?
Check the bundle list. I added Tryst back in January because it was 95% off.

Edit: I'd like to add it to the FAQ for the people who don't have enough common sense to understand that something so easily exploitable will be added to the bundle list but I don't have those permissions.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

From what I can see on the forums, Tryst was added to the bundle list and then removed later. It's not marked as a bundle game right now (*) on the create giveaway screen. Also, how is anyone supposed to know about this rule? Maybe make a forum topic about it if you can't edit the FAQ and then try to get cg to add it into the FAQ? It seems more known that price errors don't usually get added to the bundle list so I'm not sure your 95% rule is common sense, although I don't disagree with it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You may be right, Tryst ended up being a pricing error and not a full on sale and therefore wasn't exploitable so I removed it.

But it still goes to show that things 95%+ will be added.

Thanks for the reply, one other question, where is the link to the bundle list normally? I don't see it in an obvious place, it would be handy to refer to from time to time.

Thank you, I was just wondering if there was a link to it through the menu system at the top of the page, or on the giveaway creation page or something.

But there is NO rule. There is nothing about that in FAQ. I don't watch all bundles and I don't know nothing about that story with Tryst - how can I guess about that situation?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I manage the bundle list. It's a rule that I follow.

You can guess that a game with a discount of 96% will be added to the list by using a little something called common sense.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

My common sense tells me that only bundled games can be marked with * because I read about it in FAQ. And I don't care what rule you follow - it's only your rule while it's not in FAQ, simple as that.

My common sense tells me that this is a private site and if CG would disagree with Shobos actions Shobo would have been kicked from that position months ago.

I am complaining, the rules should be absolutely clear in advance to anyone willing to read them, like me.

Permalink

Absolutely agree. Every new member of this site has to be able to read the last edition of rules in FAQ. Just because new member can't know about what happened with Tryst in January.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Agreed. The FAQ needs to be updated and state this clearly, that games which receive 95%+ discounts and are available for a respectable amount of time (more than say 1 hour) will be placed on the bundle list (if they aren't already).

The whole reason for limiting CV from bundled games is because of their insanely low average price per game. Just Cause is insanely cheap now so it deserves no CV.

It might as well be regarded as bundled. If you're trying to get away with $7 worth of CV for $0.27 on the semantics of the rule, you're not wrong, you're just an asshole.

Guys, stop *****ing. You didn't pay much. Give it to friends, or be like me, and use it to boost your giveaway slots, so you can give even more. I only wish I had more than 6 copies, that will only get me two extra slots. Not nearly enough for a really big Fortix giveaway.
