Yeah, this website is so selfish.
Who do those people think they are? Giving away priced videogames, and expecting a slight bit of gratitude? what a bunch of dicks

when you give a birthday present to a friend, does he just shrug and take it? no, he thanks you for it, because you paid for the present
its the same here, people are giving away what is theirs, so they deserve people to be grateful
if someone posted a giveaway and no-one thanked them for it yet still entered, the giver would feel unappreciated, and would not want to give away a game again
i do agree with you that a lot of the time people mindlessly post thx, but at least its better than nothing right?

But if you tell your friend that there's a 1:1000 change he would get a $10 present, do you expect him to say thanks for that opportunity? He'd probably kick your ass. :)
Not saying it's the situation here, but I think that people shouldn't expect major shows of gratitude for just giving people a small chance to win something, especially if it's inexpensive and done between random strangers.
I do expect the winner of the gift to show gratitude.

I do. And do you know what people do when they're happy? They show some gratitude towards whoever made them happy. That can be distinctly lacking from some people on this site, which isn't too bad for Fortix. It's bad if you just handed them the Valve Complete Pack, however.

I always think of all the fish here. We have Trouts, Sturgeons, and many many Sailfish

I agree that the people who whine about not winning anything are annoying. You didn't pay anything to join, you don't do anything to get the points to enter, so... why is it a big deal you don't win? Because you had to go 5 seconds out of your way to click the 'join giveaway' button?
Those who ask for people to thank them or check out their site aren't as bad. They did pony up the money for whatever they're giving away, so they do have a right to ask for some recognition if you ask me. It doesn't mean it's in good taste but it's not a crime either.
And the people who just say thanks to every giveaway... I think it's a bit pointless. Not bad mind you, but I doubt they're genuinely thankful to every single person they say thanks to. Maybe if they win they will be. Meh, that's my opinion at least.

While I agree with most of your post, the Sheldon Cooper in me wants to point out that technically you do pay something to join as you can't join without already having...what is it, 50 USD worth of games on your account?

"Really though, why do people feel so entitled up here?"
What kind of crowd do you think a site that gives away free games attract? Honestly.
e: Yes, it's wrong, but use some sense, obviously the scum of the video gaming community is going to be here leaching and bitching.
Although I do think it is lame to request or demand thanks (at least if you are the gifter) I do think it's sad that most people don't take the time to thank, read the description, etc. Yeah some thanks might just be mindless thanks, but it's better than not even acknowledging the gifter in any shape or form.

I'm just talking about making a small gesture to people who are generously buying games or giving away ones they could have otherwise traded regardless if you win or lose. People pay money for this, the least you can do if you enter a giveaway is thank the person for being generous. Yeah, some people may not care. I'm not about to decide which gifters do or don't. I'm just going to thank them all for being generous.
Also, I try to at least spice up the thanks, and if I can comment on something about the description or avatar or something positive.

While I have to agree with you, I, myself just cannot bring my fingers on the keyboard to thank someone for super cheap games(10 pts but actual 1$ discount price). On most occasions, these are the exact people that whine for getting 5 pages of thanks instead of the expected 9. And yes, I stalk the forums a lot.

I have actually never been.
Is someone up for a tl;dr version?

"gimme games, I want games, thankies."

But ehh it is a site to win free games, I won't beg though, thats childish, with that said I am sure a lot of the beggars are very young...

You having a PC or a console means you are not piss poor and can afford them.
That's the only thing I see a slight issue with, being that the PC or console could have been a gift for x-mas, birthday, etc. Having one doesn't always mean they bought it themselves.
Do agree on most of the rest though.

No, it means that at some point in the past, I or my parents could probably afford a PC or a console.

To be honest, I have quite a few games on Steam, but I'd be considered a leecher. The vast majority of my games were gifts. I have cool/crazy friends. I think, other then indie bundle games, I've bought a total of 8 games and a couple Magicka dlc's in 5 years? Just do not have money to spend. I always try to at least show some appreciation, win or lose. But when I'm half asleep? I will often forget a comment box thanks. It's not that I am a jerk, but it happens.
Believe me, I don't think it's too much for anyone to ask for a little thank you, win or lose, most of the time. If I was able to afford games to contribute, I would. Right after I made up a TON of "thank you's" to my cool/crazy friends for supplying me 98.2 percent of my steam library.... So it goes. A little gratitude isn't much to expect, IMHO.

what do you want people to do? Write you a speech all we can really do is say thanks for entering into a giveaway we are Probably going to lose.

And what if i thank the person who gifted me the game in the Steam chat, after receiving the gift? Because i'd rather get them to see my thanks than to do a blind ''thxks XDXDXD:))))))'' comment.

Really though, why do people feel so entitled up here? This site is basically a good will based site. In all honesty, you just can't beg for games IMO. You having a PC or a console means you are not piss poor and can afford them. I might be naive, but sometimes my mind is just blown on steamgifts.com.
Some might say I'm one of those leachers having only given out beta keys and indie games. I will not even try denying it in any way. It would be a waste of time, don't you agree?
Another thing I'd like to voice is the : ,,Why is noone thanking me for my giveaway?" problem. I think the selfishness here is just THICK. It's like saying ,,I'm only doing good thing to feed my ego!". This genuinely angers me.
Also, sometimes it seems that people just blindly ,,Thx" on every giveaway they enter. The same people later post on this forums whining because they're not receiving games. I feel like the genuine gratuitous feeling are dying over here. People not actually thankful and others doing charity for the amount of ,,thanks" they get.
Well this is my two cents. I wonder what do other people think of this.
