Just curious what people who are still playing this think of it now. I have enough Steam Wallet left to grab it before the sale ends and am thinking of doing so.

I stopped playing a while ago due to the performance issues it has on AMD GPUs, but it's good, the development is rather slow but the modding scene as well as player base is huge, so there's a server for everyone out there.

Vanilla/semi-vanilla wise, people don't interact as much socially as they used to as back when the game ran terribly, nowadays, there tends to be a lot of shoot first, ask questions later. Still a good time for the most part with friends and what not, solo I find myself Alt-F4 after 10 minutes.

Very cool. Modding is the way I'll go I'm sure. Thanks!

I'm not a professional by any means but I do play it sometimes. It's pretty fun and especially with friends or people you meet along the way on your adventures (if they don't shoot you first). My favorite thing is to find a gun, some ammo, kill the first mean person I see and eat him and then die of cannibalism, then let the cycle continue. I still love the attention to detail in DayZ and how you can reload a single bullet into the chamber if you don't have a magazine or recycling broken clothes into makeshift shoes.

They just made the Livonia DLC free for everyone as well, which is a bummer for people who owned it before but at least they got the DayZ Soundtrack as compensation, luckily I didn't buy it before it became free so I didn't spend any unnecessary money. They are also releasing a snowy map soon called "Frostline" which looks really cool in my opinion. (Pun unintended)

Conclusion? FUN ZOMBIE GAME. A little expensive but it very fun to just play to turn your brain off. Also, random gunshots in the distance are terrifying as well. I like the game, but it is not for everyone. I hope you make your decision and are happy with your choice!

Eating those human beans, lol. I appreciate that rundown. Getting Livonia free is definitely a nice added bonus. Thanks!

I had honestly forgotten this game even existed.

I enjoy watching DayZ streams when I've got nothing else going on, so it's been on my radar for a while. I did think it a good idea to get some hands on accounts from people around here, so getting a couple was cool.

But, I can definitely see how the game would be easily forgotten if you don't watch DayZ streaming and don't play it. When did the original Arma 2 mod release? In like 2014? It's been a while.

most people who pvp are bottom tier losers who will spawn camp and go out of their way to make people ragequit, I'm surprised this game still has a player base considering it's pvp. I hear there are servers for casuals but still the game looks mostly geared toward pvp with not much depth for the pve side of things other than trying to build something while jerks ruin it. I have heard there is a lot of cheating as well. Personally I think I will avoid the game.

Does not sound like you enjoy it much. :)

Personally, I don't mind the PvP as long as there is no hacking going on and no spawn camping.

I was 2400 RBG in wow and 1900 solo. It is something to do but when a game is mainly pvp it is not very enjoyable, especially if you do not have people to play with. I much prefer cooperative play. I don't know anyone and nobody seems to want to know me so I just play vs the computer. State of Decay 2 was rather fun.

I haven't played SoD2 yet. I intend to before the third one releases though.

It's very enjoyable even if it is a bit repetitive
