Thank you and really tricky one, good job! Would be interesting to know how many people actually finished it. I feel really unique to achieve that.
Ouch, now to think of something to post.... let me get inspired by this thread. It might take some time.

Well, I did for one. Don't remember much about except it being chock-full of historical personas, and featuring pre-Assassin's Creed hashashin with Old Man of the Mountain as the final boss. Oh, and you got partial xp for sneaking past the enemies, that was pretty cool.

Nah, I most defo played that one in the UK back in the early 00s. The first one was marketed as Heath, and the second one was released as GoldenLand sans any numbers. Well, I say 'played' - I think I never got outside the starting village/town in any of those, but the blocky greyish-brown city of the second game somehow stuck in my brain, so I thought it could be it. I'll get one someday, just ye wait!

the original Fire Pro Wrestling ?
If I'm right, I do expect the meme that game spawned

Grand Pigeon's Duty? Scrap that guess. Didn't look quite as sharp on mobile.

Nope.
Hint: The game is not about birds, and this bird has absolutely nothing to do with the premise of the game. However, this bird is by far one of the most (if not the most, if I remember correctly) valuable things in the game, at least for one of the game modes.

Looks like Triple Play 2001.
(Hints helped a lot, I pass if that is it).

I sucked at it and never actually played it much, but it was memorable.

Correct! I see it really was only a bit more tricky.

Yep, that's the one. Screenshot depicts Drizzt, one of the characters in the setting, who also appears in Baldur's Gate, where you can steal or rob him of his swords, which are +5 and +3.

Scratch my previous guess, I think it's S.C.A.R.S.

Haha yeah shouldn't have used the game I was playing... but I was in a hurry... over to you.

I actually didn't watched your steam profile, at first I tought it was Mirror Edge, but then I saw the red hood she is wearing.

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book?

Close enough, Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey .
Your turn.

Look at the first guess, it's Mario, obviously isn't in steam xD.
Also, Atelier Firis is coming to steam in 2017.

I see. That actually raises a question I had as well: Are we allowed to post announced (and thus somewhat publicised) but not yet released games?

It has been released in Japan 1 month ago, but yes, good question. Let's wait for Kuribo to solve this.

Yes, I think they should count as long as they have some sort of visual assets that can be identified and are relatively well-known. That's subjective, but I just leave it to the individual poster to decide what constitutes a game they think someone might be able to actually guess.

Hint: Actual gameplay does not take place in (non-atmospheric) space.
Added second image.
EDIT: To the person who felt the need to hurry me up to post the next shot a mere half hour after my previous guess was confirmed by posting on my Steam profile because the "suspense was killing [your] buthol [sic]", let me remind you that there is a rule in place that grants the poster 12 hours to update (which used to be 24 hours not too long ago). People are often busy or otherwise occupied/unavailable, so this is the grace period that was chosen to allow for this. (Also, it can simply take some time to find a suitable game and extract a useable image, check against reverse image searches and alter if necessary (or find another alternative).) I have since removed the ungainly comment from my profile to protect the guilty :p

It was me who posted the comment.
Oh you were offended by that? I meant it as a joke, it was also a notification rather than an urgency, because you know, you didn't really hit the correct answer, it was just considered.. it was going around in some forum and I thought it sounds awesome. Sorry for that. it's not like I'm talking about your buthol. I didn't knew the new generation was this sensitive. I'll just fuckoff then. sorry.

Nah, not offended. A bit surprised/annoyed though, I admit. "New generation", eh? There's nothing new about me, let me tell you. If I would have wanted you to fuck off, I would have told you so. It was meant as a friendly reminder, no worries. You're welcome to continue playing as far as I'm concerned, don't sweat it.

It's all good, please do stick around if you enjoy the game! :)
It's always hard to convey nuances through text posts, especially with the vast differences in perspectives that people have through things like cultural, social, generational, informational gaps and the like. This game thread in particular has had some debate with respect to the "no update new post" rule, where about half prefer it faster and half prefer it slower -- but if you weren't around for it then you'd have no way of knowing it might be a bit of a touchy point.

Sorry, but I just couldn't accept your first answer, as blanket guessing entire series/franchises is one of my pet peeves, and in this particular case, there are lots of games in the series and just "MechWarrior" refers to two seperate games (1989 for PC and 1993 for NES). Each game in the series is also very distinct and iconic in its own right, unlike some other franchises.

Gosh I miss that franchise. I think I still have my Mechwarrior 2 CDs lying around somewhere, might have to go take a look for them. It'd be good inspiration for finally tackling my storage closet which requires the equivalent of an archaeological expedition to sort out.

I miss it badly as well. Sadly don't have the CDs anymore (like 99% of my physical collection, foolishly threw them out while moving during the years). I do have them backed up through other means, though. Will have to see if I can get them running again on Win10 sometime.
