I try to play a little bit of everything, but I really like Metroidvanias and platformers in general, adventure games (point and click, and also action adventure) and puzzle games, roguelikes/roguelites. I really like the Elder Scrolls games (Morrowind is my favourite).
Arcade racing (any vehicle), RTS (not many but some), and I really like strange, fun and inventive games that defies my expectations.
Anything with a strong narrative can also catch my attention.

I see. I also like Metroidvanias and platformers a lot. I really enjoyed Hollow Knight, Ender Lilies and Rabi-Ribi. It'd be hard to say which one I liked the most, but Hollow Knight I guess. It's the one with the most content of the bunch and it's very well designed overall. Ender Lilies was pretty good and interesting, too, but it was a bit too short for my tastes. Rabi-Ribi was the most different one from them, but it's pretty fun and it has a lot of content. It's more of a Metroidvania/bullet hell mix, which I really enjoyed because I really like bullet hell games too.
Out of platformer games, my favorite is Super Meat Boy, without any doubt. I also liked Battleblock Theater a lot, but I don't think it was as good. Super Meat Boy just was more fun to me. Mario games are fun too, but it has been way too long since I played them (when I was about 9 years old.) Super Mario World is the only one I completed through the end and even with all the secret areas. I also completed all of the original Sonic, but again, it was a long time ago.
I didn't play many adventure games. I guess Evoland and Evoland 2 were the closest to that, although they're hard to define because they're different from most games you'll find. The original Evoland fell short to me, though. The idea was original and interesting, but there was very little actual content and the little story that it had was pretty mediocre. Everything happened way too unnaturally quickly and the game didn't really go in detail explaining all that was going on. At first it seemed just like some random aimless game and then some story appeared out of nowhere. It was weird. Evoland 2 was completely different on that regard. It had a coherent story from the very start and you could get an idea of what was going on and such. I also really liked how some things weren't fully cleared out by the game once you finish it, but you could make the connection between the events and get an idea of how and why some things happened, and even who your main character actually was. The story was very good, overall. Few games could get me as hooked with their story as Evoland 2 did, so it's a game I really recommend. The whole "evolving game" thing was also handled in a different and original, compared to Evoland 1.
I also love Elder Scrolls games. I got all of them on Steam, although I still need to play the previous ones. The one I played the most was Skyrim and I played a bit of Oblivion, but not so much, and I didn't play Morrowind so far. I plan to do so, sooner or later.
I love arcade racers, too. I tried some of the realistic ones, like Dirt Rally and Asseto Corsa, but I wasn't really convinced and I didn't find them particularly fun. They usually feel a bit slow and weird for my tastes. I enjoy more the intensity and speed feel of the arcade racers, like the Need for Speed games. I also really liked Gran Turismo 4, back in the PlayStation 2.
I didn't play RTS games a lot, but I really liked Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction. I played it in the PS2. I also really liked some RTS Flash game that I can't remember well. My favorite Grand strategy game so far is Crusader Kings III, and my favorite 4X is Stellaris, but I still have a lot of games I'd like to try, like Hearts of Iron IV, Europa Universalis IV, Victoria II and Civilization VI. Victoria II is the one I played the most among those, but I only did for a few hours, so I didn't really play it enough to get familiar enough with the game and see what it has to offer.
I don't particularly like puzzle games. I really enjoy learning and exercising my mind overall, but they aren't what I enjoy the most. I enjoy more classical logical problems like the ones used in IQ tests, and just reading about topics I like, mainly psychology and psychiatry.
I ended up rambling a lot. I hope you don't mind. I really like being detailed and I naturally give a lot of detail when talking about anything, so it's hard for me to just find some middle ground and make a shorter answer.

Did you try Redout ? (the first one, much better than the second one)
It's not on road, but maybe you would like it, it's exactly what you mention, intensity and speed feel.

Maybe the game for you could be Return of the Obra Dinn. Logic (pen and paper) puzzles, with a superb setting, a very strong narrative, and very distinctive graphic style.

Games to walk around in beautiful environments like Kingdom Come forest.
Sci-fi games with beautiful planets or a fascinating story. Games with boats or submarines, a lot of sea. There is no sea where i live.
Games where i feel like an explorer, like Heaven's Vault or Curious expedition.
Also funny games like Broken Sword, but there are not many that made me laugh.

Have you played Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies.
Nah i was afraid the level of English wasn't easy but i'll try again one day.
For the funny part, a (very) old game that was pretty hilarious is Giants: Citizen Kabuto. Pretty cheap on GOG.
I confess to not knowing this one, just the more famous ones (deponia, day of the tentacles, monkey island, discworld, etc.)

This is a VERY varied game, with elements of strategy, action-adventure, Kaiju movie... Not a point and click game thou. If you like Action RPGs, the Deathspank games are also really funny.
Sadly the Sunless games are very language demanding. There are fan translations to Spanish and Russian. Hopefully other fans will translate it to other languages too.

I don't have a favorite genre I think but I generally like action in the sense of explosions and other hot things like fire, and smoke. I like destructive racing games like Wreckfest but it isn't limited to kart racers as well, the likes of Mario Kart Wii and stuff like that. I also like shooters and mostly tactical shooters like Ready or Not and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Some shooters are roguelikes too which I really enjoy like for example Roboquest, the style is simplistic and really cute. I am a big fan of cute and cozy games as well, the likes of Bugsnax and JellyCar Worlds. I personally enjoy roguelites a little more than roguelikes but there are some exceptions. I do really like Roboquest and getting both gameplay-wise and upgrade-wise, but I also really like Dead Estate where you do runs and try to unlock different characters and complete harder and harder difficulties and do some achievements for some extra challenge. I like horror games as well, grim and dark settings that send shivers down your spine and generally depressing settings like in Iron Lung. With the horror elements, I like boomer shooters and rather retro looking games from the 2000's era, not the games themselves but the style of those games, David Szymanski catches that essence really well, like for example with Dusk. I am also a pretty creative type and as such I also really like sandbox and rhythm games. My recent favorite in the sandbox genre is Trailmakers, it was hard to pick up at first but I gave it another go recently and it is really intuitive and fun. Rhythm games are awesome too, as someone who really likes music I really enjoy rhythm games as well like Rhythm Heaven Fever, but I mostly just play Rocksmith 2014 Remastered whenever I feel like playing a game about something music related. I really like playing with my friends as well so I play a lot of multiplayer games like Lethal Company and stuff of the sort. One of my favorite games to play together is Deep Rock Galactic since we are always so hyper-focused on harder difficulties and we coordinate like professional special agents (dwarves).
I think it is easier to say what game genres I don't like to play. I don't really enjoy RPG games, although I do very much love the Cat Quest franchise, they are little bite sized little RPG adventures filled with cat puns. I am also not a big fan of strategy games or puzzle games, although it really does depend on the puzzle game. I really enjoy Portal and Portal 2 but I haven't gotten around to finishing Portal 2, I also really like Rusty Lake games but I haven't gotten around to those yet either. I generally also don't think much about story games but again, it really just depends on the story, for example I today just finished the entire Frog Detective series and I liked it a lot. Although short and really not that stimulating like Bugsnax it was really cozy and relaxing.
I think that's it for now. I despise strategy games, I dislike RPG games and I have a mixed opinion on puzzle and story games. I really enjoy destructive games, racing games, shooters of all kinds, cute and cozy games, roguelikes and roguelites, horror games, co-operative games to play with my friends and rhythm & music related games.

It wasn't a mockery, it made me smile to read (the enthusiasm with which you have written), sorry if you have taken it badly.
We like really different sort of games, like day and night. But i just loved the enthusiasm really.

No no no! I might've accidentally come off a little rude, I mean you can't really express tone through text but I meant no harm. Thank you for the compliment!

Our tastes are very different, with some exceptions, but it was still interesting to read your answer. I also really love roguelike and roguelite games, and my tastes on story games are mixed too. I don't tend to play games that only have a good story to offer, but I still enjoy a really good story. Evoland 2 is among the games that got me the most hooked, on that regard, which wasn't at all what I expected, but it was a safisfying surprise. I was expecting more of an aimless innovative game, which was exactly how the original Evoland was, but Evoland 2 was completely different, in a good way. It has a lot more content and it's just more interesting, overall. I also love how the "evolving game" thing was handled, as it was different as in the original. You'll see what I mean if you play it, as I'd spoil it for you otherwise.
I also like rythm games, but I didn't play many of them, and it has been a long time since I played any game like that. The ones I played and liked were Geometry Dash, osu! and Muse Dash.
I like racing games too, arcade racers specifically. None of the realistic ones really convinced me. I also have a lot of fun with sandbox games. My favorite games of that type are Terraria and Garry's Mod. Starbound and BeamNG.drive are very fun too.
I didn't play many horror games, but I don't think I really like them. I don't find them particularly interesting, but maybe I just didn't find the right one for me. I got to admit that I didn't give them enough of a chance, as I hardly actually played them.
I like your way of writing and giving detail, by the way. You express yourself similarly as how I do it.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't really play any game purely for the story either, I mean a good story is always good but I value gameplay above all else. One such game that hit me by surprise was Fallen Aces, I was expecting a very fun Forgive Me Father style boomer shooter/stealth fps/immersive simulator but the story and the comic book cutscenes were AMAZING. Everything from the voice acting down to the itty bitty detail in the gameplay. (For example you can destroy a gumball machine and then gumballs fly out and the goons can slip on them and fall).
I do like rhythm games, but not really the hardcores ones like the Dance Of Fire And Ice (Or whatever it was called, I am again too tired to search it up since it is like 1 AM right now). I really enjoy Headbangers: Rhythm Royale as well since the minigames are very cute and lighthearted with little to no rhythm involved in most cases, which might be a turn-off for most people but I really enjoy just dancing along with the other pigeons. Only problem with the game is that it is dead, like really dead, so you will be basically waiting 30 seconds for the game to just say "oh, we didn't find anyone, I guess ya just have to play with robots, then!". But otherwise, I love the new Battle of the Dancers PvP mode where you play like a sort of Guitar Hero or osu! Mania game mode where the last one standing wins and the goofy copyright-free song covers are HILARIOUS!
I adore racing games, I also like cars too but surprisingly I am not a car nerd. I don't know what a turbocharger is, all I know is that it makes my car sound weird. I even bought myself a racing wheel because I enjoyed the thrill of driving and racing so much. I like the mix of realism and arcade-ness in racing games. While I LOVE Burnout Paradise Remastered, I also really like the destructiveness of BeamNG.drive which is arguably my favorite destruction racing game of all time, just because of how good it looks.
Sandbox games are my cup of tea because creativity is right up my alley. One really cool game that I like is Teardown, where I just love racing on one of the maps in the game and when I crash my car I just leave it there and spawn another and keep doing laps until I can't get through no more. I did play the campaign mode as well in that game but it a lot of puzzle and strategy so I wasn't really impressed by that, but oh man the smoke effects and destruction physics are amazing and satisfying to look at.
I don't really like horror games too, in the sense that I am scared half to death playing anything remotely spooky. And that is really the thrill of it. I have quite a few horror games I have yet to play yet because of how scary they are and how much courage I need to get to actually even just press play. Ready or Not was probably the only game I didn't expect to be as scary as it was. I mean, the maps were just eerie and really unnerving, I mean, wouldn't you be scared when you literally can't run anywhere and that there were hostile criminals nearby? I surely would.
I love writing and being in depth about things, it's one of my strengths. Explaining and giving important insight, but that doesn't mean I would like some insight myself. I need people's opinions every once in a while to find a new game I am looking for. Thank you for your input!
P.S, I was even more lazy this time which means I wasn't even bothered to look through the text once, sorry for the grammar mistakes if they occur.
Comment has been collapsed.
Don't worry, it's perfectly understandable.
Teardown looks very fun. I didn't know that one, so thank you for mentioning it. I just wishlisted it.
About the horror games, I don't know how scary I would find them because I hardly gave them a chance. Maybe I would actually like them if I did. I guess the ones who would work the best against me would be games that can make you feel a real sense of danger, as I'm already very paranoid and sometimes I even have paranoid episodes where I feel as if someone is coming to kill me and it makes me feel a lot of anxiety, and there is nothing that can really make me feel safe when it happens because danger can always be around the corner. Even when in your house, you never know what might happen. Sometimes I feel scared of being murdered while I'm sleeping, too.
Apart from that, I'm sure existential dread would work too. I don't think nothing really scares me more than dying and just stopping existing altogether. It's not exactly the process of dying. That's trivial compared to not existing anymore, as death wouldn't necessarily imply that because we can't know what may or may not happen next. I know it wouldn't imply any suffering, since I couldn't possibly suffer or feel anything for that matter if I don't exist in the first place, but I just don't want to stop existing, no matter what happens. I want to exist forever, no matter what.
I'm agnostic and think there are fair chances of both the Universe being natural or artificial, as in, some higher being having created it, or maybe even the idea of it being just a very complex simulation. There's no way of really knowing. But even if a god exists, that doesn't guarantee the existence of an afterlife. What if he were to exist, but also made it so absolutely nothing comes after death? I also consider the possibility of reincarnation, but it'd originate a lot of questions of how it works and why it exists.
Such is my obsession with being alive that my biggest dream is of some technology for attaining immortality being invented before I die, and getting access to it. It's a major motivation for why I want to become rich. Such a techonology, if invented (there are many possible ways for attaining it, like robotic parts and cellular rejuvenation, which is known to be possible because of the turritopsis dohrnii, the jellyfish that can do exactly that and is biologically immortal, but the question is when it will happen) would either stay in secret, be extremely expensive to get access to or a combination of the two. And the only way for safisfying the conditions for getting access to it is becoming as rich and powerful as I can. It'd also be great if I could make it so the people I care about become immortal too, but that would probably be harder.
Anyway, I ended up rambling a lot and I derailed to a completely unrelated topic. I hope you don't mind and that you found it interesting.
I love writing and being in depth, too, and reading. I love learning. Thank you for your input, too.

We went from games, to horror games to the purpose of life and then to the regeneration of organic tissue.
I think what makes a horror game scary is the risk of losing something permanently like losing your progress and getting set back by dying. (big factor in the game Lethal Company, if one of your teammates dies you lose like a certain percentage of your current credits but if everyone dies you lose all your scrap you've collected throughout the shift, this gets even more scary in Singleplayer). I think what made Iron Lung so scary was the fact it kept the tension for so long that it became overwhelming and I think that's why it was such a great game. It was short, only about 45 minutes or so but it was perfect, absolutely perfect.
I really haven't played that many horror games to know myself, but I really like horror games that can keep that tension and make dying always scary. I've been playing Lethal Company so much that dying isn't always that scary sometimes.
I personally find immortality pointless. What's the purpose of living eternally? Doesn't the perpetual future scare you? I wouldn't want to live any longer than I should. The death of my loved ones, the pain of bloodshed and violence around the world, the destruction of society as we know it, I wouldn't want to experience that any longer than I should. I don't know how long I will live, but I do know that when I die, I will die in peace. Is there an afterlife? I don't know. I know for a fact I do not want to experience the future and what's to come these coming decades. I just want to experience the most that life has to offer and live a happy life. I am nearly not capable enough to change the world as one person, so I want to make a difference where I can.
Thank you for the philosophical conversation. It was very fun to read.

That makes sense, although there are lots of things that could make them scary.
I can understand your point of view. I'm just really attached to my life and don't want to stop existing no matter what. I really don't want to stop existing. I'm very resilent, so I'll be able to get through anything that happens. I have this mentality because I experienced a lot of trauma through my life. I have many mental health issues. Despite that, I was always able to endure, even consecutive years of uninterrupted suffering. I can think of nothing that would be "too much" for me. I already went through being so depressed that I didn't have any motivation for anything, nor a will to live, and even existing felt tiresome. That wasn't just sporadic, but something I experienced for years without any rest. I never seriously considered suicide, even if it may have seemed tempting. I just endured. I always had the hope of things getting better and one day being able of truly enjoying life, and that they surely did. I want to live as much as I can. I take a lot of care of my health. I have the menatlity of always keeping myself strong and enduring everything. The day I die, it wil be because there was anything I could do about it. I would never bring that myself, nor do anything that would make it come more quickly, even simple things like eating junk food. It's not an issue for me to just eat healthy.
No problem. I always tend to get derailed like this. When I talk about anything, it often reminds me of something else loosely related and I can go on for a long time.

I get what you mean, I tend to keep the flow of the conversation going for a long time. You start talking about video games, you end up talking about the meaning of life. I love to talk and write and meeting new people.

I don't think it is the only good one, but it is definitely pretty good and my favorite one. I also really like Rogue Legacy, Rogue Legacy 2, Spelunky (I didn't play the second one) and Enter the Gungeon. I also like Dead Cells, but I don't think I like it as much. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is still my favorite roguelite, though.
And about actual roguelike games, as in, games that actually are like Rogue, my favorite is Caves of Qud, but I have many more that I want to try. Caves of Qud is extremely fun. The amount of content and complexity in the game is actually insane. There is way too much for you to do and builds you can try. There isn't just a single "good" build. A lot of builds are viable if you put in enough effort into them, even if some are clearly better.

I started playing PC games back in 1997 and quickly fall in love with adventure games - like The Neverhood, The Longest Journey or Grim Fandango, I think by 1998-1999 I was playing almost solely them (and also various iterations of Civilization and Sims). In 2015 I discovered RPGs, apparently these can also provide awesome stories; I prefer CRPGs, especially turn-based ones, but also don't mind more action-oriented stuff like Witcher or Mass Effect (but no souls-likes for me, I'm not a fan of torturing myself).

RPG's, RTS, TBS, CRPG, racing/flight if i have some immersive hardware like a steering wheel and joystick.
Puzzle games are cool too, but i tend to prefer to play them on mobile devices with a touch screen are more enjoyable.
Loved platformers and JRPG's back in the 80s/90s. But after getting my first PC in '96 I quickly got addicted to StarCraft, Warcraft, Age of Empires, Baldur's Gate, and Diablo.

I really enjoy a variety of genres. CCGs(Marvel SNAP and MTG Arena), Metroidvania, Roguevania, Rougelike, Roguelite, and Open World RPGs are the ones that I've played the most recently.
JRPGs will always have a big place in my heart as this these were the games I absolutely loved when I was a console gamer and I have a pretty decent size collection. (Xenogears ad Xenosaga games, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy games,
I have a long history with MMOARPGs and MMORPGs. Marvel Heroes, Archeage, PWI, GW2, Neverwinter, New World, Runescape, FFXIV, Trove, TESO, Lost Ark some of the ones off the top of my head.
Competitive FPS games I was pretty decent at on consoles back in the day. I really suck at them on PC though cause I'm just not good with a mouse and keyboard when it comes to them, so I don't play these much anymore.

Mostly RPGs with good or decent graphics. It should have a great story! Will overlook the graphics part for games with exceptional stories.
Thank the heavens for mods, I do not enjoy playing games for the challenge. I face enough of them IRL.
Ghostrunner was one of them, extremely tiring, generic story. Added a mod...Poof! Beaten.
It was a lesson for me that all that glitters is certainly not all gold!

RPGs of all kinds of flavors. JRPG, CRPG, turn-based and realtime. Isometric and first-person perspective.
Strategy. Mostly Grand Strategy but also RTS, teambased TBS etc.
Roguelikes
Metroidvania
Racing
Action/Adventures
Actually all genres have some appeal to me. Exceptions are only fighting games and puzzle games (though I do play the high quality puzzle titles).

I do enjoy GTA a lot, I am planning to pick up GTA IV on the Summer Sale if it is cheap. That is in my opinion the best GTA game to date I think, San Andreas was pretty good but GTA IV holds a special place in my heart. Far Cry series also fits into that category right? I might also try Far Cry 3 at some point...
Comment has been collapsed.
GTA 4 is definetly peak, and still holds up. For the other series i'd recommend Watch Dogs 2, it's probably the best open-world Ubisoft has made to date, and is a damn good rival to GTA in many aspects. Just Cause, definetly go for 3 as it's the best the series has to offer in terms of fun gameplay, modern graphics and destruction, Far Cry, i'd go for 3 as well, though none of the Far Cry games are really worth buying outside a deep sale, they are the gaming equivalent of junk food.
Booting up any of these games and just fucking around for an hour or two is truly great when you have no interest or want to play something deep.

Indeed, nothing better than just booting up the game, driving around and just closing the game when I get bored.

Shooters, and ground-level action-adventure/hack-and-slash (stuff like Alan Wake, Bayonetta, Uncharted, Lollipop Chainsaw).
I tend to enjoy stuff more from roughly 2005-2015. Linear story based.

Yah. Bioshock, F.E.A.R., Dead Space, Prey (the 2006 one), Alan Wake, Uncharted, Resistance, Red Faction, Singularity, The Saboteur, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry (3, 4, and Blood Dragon). Lots of good stuff.
Nice to see you, icaio. Hope things are going well. :)

Oh you just spewed out some goats, nothing really pleases me like the farcry series, mid or good game it's just an enjoyable series to me. Bioshock was a story done perfect and though the 3rd wasn't my favorite the tie ins where crazy. My friend loves dead space and it looks pretty solid (not 3 though...only redeeming factor was the co-op). Uncharted and the fear series are definitely on my to do list as well they seem fun, especially co-op. Though im suprised watch dogs wasn't on the list, unless you forgot or more suprising haven't played it.

You've got some great games to look forward to with both the Uncharted and F.E.A.R. series. Be sure to play the F.E.A.R. expansions too. One of them (the exact one escapes me) has the best atmosphere/spookiness in the series IMO. I hope you like them all. :)
Never got around to Watch Dogs, though I do have it on PS4. I grabbed it years after the fact, when it was ridiculously cheap. All the graphics drama surrounding it's release killed a lot of the hype for me, though I still do want to play it one day.

If you ever do decide to play watch dogs, which even I havent played yet, there is a mod that drastically changes many things about the game, including things that where promised or would of made the game better on release, here's the mod link if interested called "Living City"
https://www.nexusmods.com/watchdogs/mods/81
I'd say Watch Dogs is a more gritty and anti hero story than watch dogs 2 which I have played but I've heard lots of good things about the game after its release. I also recommend it's sequel it's also really solid but if you wish for the same anti hero style story you won't get that in 2, but still a great game.

My favorite game genres are FPS (Counter-Strike), RTS (Age of Empires, Stellaris), TBS (The Battle for Wesnoth), RPG (Diablo, and JRPG), and rougelike (Angband).
I also like casual games like the ones from Popcap.
I'm really bad at music games like DEEMO.
Most of the classic roguelike games are like that, so I didn't really touch them.
Angband has graphic, you should try it.

I was just wondering. Mine are RPGs, strategy games and roguelike/roguelites. I really love games of all types within those genres and I don't really mind the graphics. I can enjoy both AAA games and old games or pixelated indies. I like both 2D and 3D games. The only ones I really have a problem with are the ASCII ones, since it's hard to learn what everything means. Most of the classic roguelike games are like that, so I didn't really touch them.
I can like games of most genres, though. I also like many shooters, for example, although it isn't the genre I tend to enjoy the most. There are lots of games I love within a lot of different genres, so it'd be hard to list them all.
What about you?
