First three albums of his are among my favourites. "Dress Rehearsal Rag" is one of the two songs I wish I would be able to hear for the first time again.

Also, everyone to whom Cohen's songs meant anything should read this recent text by The New Yorker's editor David Remnick: http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/10/17/leonard-cohen-makes-it-darker

Ah, damn. Just expected some random tribute thread when I clicked the title, never even thought about a cause, 2016 has been really rough

What a loss. First song I heard from him was Chelsea Hotel No 2, and so I fell in love with his music.

Can't say I'm familiar with his music but some of his music does sounds pretty good after looking it up on Youtube. RIP :/

You've probably heard a cover of his "Hallelujah" somewhere more than once. Some of his other songs, like The Future, Everybody Knows, Bird on a Wire or First We Take Manhattan also pop up frequently in movies or TV.
But give him a try, really. You've got nothing to lose but a little time, and maybe you'll gain something out of it :)

you were one of those who showed me a way of think different. I remember the early youth days in mid 70´s, the vinyl was scratched, my older sis hated me to treat her records this, and I played it on and on while reading books.
