I won Wargame: European Escalation (public giveaway with no further information about the game version) and could activate the key without problems but it turned out to be
Wargame: European Escalation Retail (PL).
There are no language options in steam library and ingame language is polish only(cannot change it).
Is this legit or should I mark the gift as "not received". Imho it's against the rule "Do not submit CD-keys that have regional restrictions, or those that require VPN activation or methods to bypass regional restrictions." but not totally sure about this.

Also, i freaking hate nazi, yes i know it's completly related to the topic.

What the f*ck am i reading...? I hate the language and the nazi, they are different entities to me, stop being a common society retard. I hate the language for the way it sounds when spoken by most people in general, heck i even hate it when my brother uses that language, not all the time but it's something i don't appreciate. French is the same deal, i'm not saying i hate the germans overall, like if they were all nazi, that would be a dumb fact since we live in a world where globalization is one of the biggest facts in human history, so don't come here and throw garbage of that kind at me because it isn't going to work.

By the term nazi i mean every german that enjoys the things that hitler as done in the past and plays with that fact itself, i worked nearly 6 months with a nazi douchebag, annoying racist pig and he used to do all sorts of things related to nazism while at work, when there wasn't much to do. A person who does that, isn't playing around, most likely a history fanatic who follows up to past events in human history, idiots like those need to be locked away in a dungeon and left rotting to death.

I might sound racist, but i'm not, not the type of racism towards black people or that kind of things, i do hate nazi, if that makes me a racist, so be it. They diserve to be hated.

Your assumptions are of the hook, you should check on what you write/read before attempting to write further assumption replies towards people, just a suggestion.

The problem was you did, in fact, imply that Germans and Nazis are almost the same thing, when you even bothered mentioning it at all. If I said, "I don't like Bob Barker. I don't like any child molester." I am clearly implying Bob Barker is a child molester simply by putting those two sentences together when the discussion was only about Bob Barker, and not about child molesters.
I suggest you get some reading comprehension skills as well, because he didn't say you were a racist. He said don't add racial references. Don't even mention Nazi's and Germans in the same sentence, the way you did, without expecting people to read it as you implying either all Nazis are Germans or all Germans were Nazis.
Also, unless you are actually talking about members of the Nazi Party in Germany around the time of WW2, the term is White Supremest, simply because it removes the racial connotations of implying only Germans still hold those beliefs.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And White Supremacists don't deserve to be locked up and left to die simply because of their (crazy) beliefs. A lot of people have crazy beliefs. IMO having religion is crazy, but I wouldn't lock up anyone who is religious, just the people who use it as an excuse to commit other crimes, like assault and murder. Same thing with White Supremacists. Lock up the ones that commit crimes, ignore the ones that don't.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You could argue that looking down on, condescending, and treating others with prejudice based on such ridiculous notions as white supremacy are crimes also. Where do you think eventual political parties and policy changes such as the original Nazi party came / come from? Sure, I get what you're saying - thought isn't a crime. And it isn't. But how many racist people do you know (and white supremacists are racists, too) that actually have their own beliefs, and don't let them cloud their behaviour towards others? When you see others as legitimately below you (as those idiots would argue things like genetic superiority or some other such pseudo-scientific nonsense to justify their prejudice and hate) you usually don't treat them with respect and decency.. The whole ideology behind all forms of racism / racial superiority is geared towards negative behaviour, at the very least condescension and mistreatment, and at the worst murder.

You sir, have failed. Big time. Try learning how to express yourself properly, and also practise your comprehensive reading skills. Also, don't post entirely unrelated things in the same damn sentence, as if they're related, then get mad at others for reading your sentence precisely as the language itself intends them to..

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't like German language too, but damn, not every German is Nazi. Actually, I think most of them are not.

Buying the game for learning a language is good if you know at least the basics. Polish language is damn hard even for some Polish people, so learning it only from games is a bad idea.

AFAIK, most Germans were Nazi. Hitler won democratic elections, people wanted him in power. And that's not surprising - he fought unemployment, he gave Germans a dream of better Germany and showed the way to achieve it.

If he weren't so crazy about Jews (which actually wasn't that much of an issue for Allies, it only became important issue after war) he'd remembered as quite good ruler. Just look at Stalin - he killed much more people and still is quite beloved guy.

Instead of making a forum topic you should have contacted support.

However, considering you activated the key, you need to mark it as Received. The key was not locked in some way, from what I can gather, just that your game is in Polish only (same as certain games are low violence).

Also, the first link on a google search on how to change the language seems to be a pdf for that exact issue.

Permalink

How would someone know upfront that a key is for a version with only polish language e.g. or low violence respectively? You HAVE to activate it first, there's just no other way to see it.

Usually, users are expected to mention that in the description so entrants that do not want that version can avoid it. However, on some cases where users found out later, steam support helped them get the correct version.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I agree with what NibidXW4 has said - you guys should add to the rules that when making a giveaway for a low violence or language restriced version of a game, you MUST include such info. in your giveaways' description, with the penalty being giveaway deletion, no CV, and potential suspension after a few such offenses.

People that have a low violence or otherwise restricted version on their account are pretty much screwed. I'd be absolutely livid if I received a "russian only" or low violence version of a game through a key. I'd never be able to get a normal version on my account, then. Pretty f*d up.

Also, 99% sure the OP got an exploited key. Wargame: European Escalation was a free key you got with the "CD Action" magazine, apparently (just checked it with a polish friend). Such keys aren't allowed on here, anyway, right?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not all users know that in advance, from what I've noticed though. Also, as I said earlier, I've seen tickets of steam support changing the version for the user who activated such a game or removing it from the account so they can get the preferred version.

I can't talk about the user's key, since I have no information on it. Thus I said, support would be a better place for this.

1) Not everyone knows this kind of fix is possible, or maybe he just didn't think of it.
2) Having a game you'd like to play in a language you don't understand at all is pretty damn annoying. Free or not.
3) There was no prior indication that the game was PL only.
4) Even with such a fix, every time the game has an update, he'd need to redo the fix (due to Steam probably overwriting the files he edited).

All seem like pretty good reasons to complain. Chill the f*ck out..

Did you check the description on the drawing BEFORE entering?

IF IT THEY MENTIONED "POLISH VERSION" in the description -- You have to deal with it as a case of "Caveat Emptor" here... as you were forewarned.

IF THERE WAS NO MENTION OF IT BEING A "POLISH VERSION" in the description -- You have a valid case against the contributor with a case of "Caveat Venditor" as they failed to provide all the expectations... Namely "Do not submit CD-keys that have regional restrictions, or those that require VPN activation or methods to bypass regional restrictions."

Double-check the drawing before you file that report to see who's at fault.

Permalink

No valid case. It was activated without VPN and no regional restriction. I wouldn't call a the language of the game a good enough reason...lolz anyways, it has a fix. OP just had to look online instead of complaining on this site.

It's NOT regional restrictions/VPN activation since you could activate and install so even if you can't understand, it's still legit and followed the rules so you couldn't mark it as not received. Regional restriction is if you enter the key and it says you can only activate it if you're in certain countries. So tough luck...but luckily for you....

I went through the same problem with the copy I received on this site too. Instead of making a thread complaining about it without looking on the tool called GOOGLE, I looked it up and found the fix.

http://support.onlinekeystore.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/53/3/wargame-european-escalation-polish-only-fix

Seriously, if I gave that game out and the winner came up with this thread before looking online, I would be PISSED and the winner would be blacklisted from my crappy giveaways in the future.

Sorry if I seem kinda rude but your comment about marking it as not received because of a tiny inconvenience really bothered me.
