Sure. By you giveaways I can safely assume you've spent at the mos 5$ for those two games. Do you want that value instead of the one you have?

Tell me about it, I bought Defiance 4 days ago it then dropped all the way down to $10 yesterday, had I waited just a little longer....
Edit, even worse is when it will be 75% off and only $2.49...

I doubt you can call it a 'donation' if you do it only for the CV.

Oh no, this is indeed a sad day for all SG community, I think we need to make this day a memorial day to remember Aeni's great contribution to the community.

FYI the only time your CV drops is if the Steam reported value of the games you've gifted decreases. If a game is available in a bundle after you've gifted it, it doesn't change a thing.
All of which is only a problem if you CV is some sort of magic number. It's a rough estimate that roughly gauges how much you've contributed to the community. I'm not hearing anyone complain about the 20% bonus CV we get from bundle games.

You haven't donated for over a year anyway, do you really think we would believe you might have done more?

If a game gets bundled it doesn't affect your CV if you gave it away before the bundle. Only price drops do.

If a game gets bundled it doesn't affect your CV only when your giveaway ends before the bundle. I've seen this problem before. I once created a giveaway before the bundle, but later on the game got bundled earlier than my giveaway's end time making its value dropped, so I asked for support and got a confirmation.

CV used to be a number on your profile and nothing else. The contributor's giveaway are supposed to be a way to thank those who have contributed to the site. In a sense they partially replaced some of the group-only giveaways that happened before. Yes, it's nice to be allowed into some extra giveaways but giveaways should still be made for the sake of giving, and not for the side perks.

epeen is a bit of a misnomer, I think of it more like tits.....you can't do much about your dick, but you can get fake boobs easily enough. so if its a site where the eppen is comment count, or anything else you can increase etits seems closer. that and breasts are more readily visible in day to day life so that part fits a number on your profile better too.

The situation isn't the only thing that sucks here. looks at Aeni

'kinell! You need to work on your shopping skills, amigo. I'd also contact a good lawyer: If you paid $50 for those, you were robbed.

You gave games that are currently worth $24.98, I don't see the problem here. It's not like you're the only one being affected by this, we all are. And I seriously doubt the notion that you spent $50 on those games, it was probably closer to $15 at the time.
Games should be given away for the sake of giving. CV is just a number that some people use to create giveaways with slighlty better odds. Personally I have installed SG+ and I just hide the GA for CV higher than mine so I simply don't see them.

I didn't say I was, just saying that's fucked up and I'm not going to spend $100 on games to have them only equal $40 in donations in a few months. I'm not down for that. Regardless what the game is worth now, I still donated the $100 amount. THAT is my problem.

But unless you bought them at full price, you still paid a lot less than what you get credit for. And honestly, those who are generous enough to give away games bought at full price are usually the ones who care the less about their CV.

it just seems a bit weird as a system to work this way it does now.
even for those who don't particularly care about cv (which is the standard reply) it still seems like it'd be mildly annoying to gift bioshock infinite for 60 and see it drop to 30 vs a guy who gave 7 badats(bad example, badrats is awesome) being listed with a higher gift value(...of course then they[the ones who don't care about cv] shrug and move on, but still theres that second of "click to enter giveaway you qualified for yesterday not enough cv to enter.thats odd and mildly annoying" i guess)

You came to this forum to open the same thread many other people did before you to simply say the "system is shitty".
Don't be surprised if people react negatively.
If you said this without all the "i stopped using this site" and "shitty system", there wouldn't be so much hate.
I agree with what LAW666 said though. If someone gives a game worth 30$, this value shouldn't decrease afterwards. It doesn't make much sense when it happens, why is it retroactive?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's reatroactive because SG doesn't store all the the individual prices a game had in the past. It only keeps a list of the current prices and uses that list to calculate your CV. It's faster to compute and use less space on the servers, but it has the side effect of affecting the CV retroactively when there's a price drop.

Yeah, apparently the games we win here don't appear from thin air. Who knew?
I'm still not sure how it works but I've heard something about goats, funny hats and a full moon.

He gave SR3 before the HiB, but I'm guessing he got it for around $13 based on sales going on at the time.

Price drops should not affect closed giveaways in any manner.
Period.
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't know the prices were affected. That's actually really really shitty. I guess you're not supposed to have fun giving away games, it's all about being strict here.

I do giveaway games because I'm a nice person, it does not mean I think this is a good system. Does that mean I will stop giving away games? Not really.
And it's not like people here don't make use of their highly accrued CV to join giveaways that give them higher chances of winning. I think everyone that gives away should have the same chances. Oh well, I guess 'tis not to be.
Comment has been collapsed.
The value is calculated from the current price on Steam. SG doesn't keep an historical database with the price every game have had in the past. It's annoying to see your CV go down when a game you gave away has a price drop, but it affects everyone so I still believe it's fair.

I understand the pain; however, this is just another CV complaining thread. CV will benefit those most who continue to contribute (and don't care about CV).

Well, donations don't get rewards, so maybe you'd feel better getting 0?

This is the reason I stopped using this site, I spent $50 to have that as my donation, as the game value decreased supposedly that means I spent less money.
Shitty system is shitty, doesn't matter what the current value of your donations are...it should go by how much you've put into donations.
