Could you add a description / text field to the feedback page, so people could write some info about their steam profile (like "my account has ## games and lvl ##") or any other things to stop scammers from using other people's rep pages? People can easily change steam name and avatar, and then they copy-paste my SteamTrades link to others. When they get scammed, im the one who gets the -rep on my profile, or gets reported on steam for no reason. Can't say i care that much about the steamtrades rep comments, but i dont wanna get trade banned or anything on steam.

Or you could just click that little Steam icon on the profile page

And with Enhanced Steam, its easy to go from a Steam profile to a Steamgifts profile, to make sure its the same person.

Exactly, I forgot to add that, thanks for picking up my slack :)

No worries. Anyone who is getting ripped off on Steamgifts by an impersonator simply isn't doing their due diligence.

I keep hearing about this Enhanced Steam, is it just a browser extension thingy?

EDIT: The function that shows prices elsewhere works, but not the highlighting of owned/wishlisted ganes. :(

You might need to adjust the options.

Derp, thanks! I didn't even see where to access the options. Much better now.

Except for the fact that the icon is not available to someone who is not logged in on Steamgifts, and people unfamiliar with the site will just take whatever's on the page at face value.

How can they try to initiate a trade with somebody when they aren't logged in? If your answer is going to be, "Well, they can get the username and profile of somebody who posted and contact them directly on Steam"......I would most certainly be VERY suspicious if somebody PM'd me over Steam asking for a trade when I hadn't spoken to them previously on here, or any other trade site/forum

Except that it's exactly what happens a lot of the time. People are trading on some other forum, someone adds them, sends a Steamgifts link as "proof of rep" and the person, who often doesn't even have a Steamgifts account, can't verify if they're dealing with the right trader.

Once the deal went south, they register here to post a -rep on your profile and you have to explain to them that they've been hit by an impersonator. I've had to go through this more than once.

Been through this myself and it is annoying as hell since most don't like to admit that they got scammed by an obvious fake profile. -.-

i know that, but others dont know about it.
the last guy that got scammed by a guy with my name and avatar gave me a -rep, then i added him to ask him to remove it and i explained that he didnt trade with me, and he also wrote a ticket to SG support about me.
he said the guy had same name and avatar (and probably didnt know about the button that leads to the original profile), so he got scammed.
it might be his fault, but im the one who ends up banned.
and i dont think a text field is that much or hard to add

I wish everyone would just install Enhanced Steam. It makes it very difficult to get fooled by an impersonator.

its hard to not allow same display name for multiple users when theres like.. dunno... 100 million users, and some of them arent active anymore, means that so many names would be taken and u'd be forced to have a name like 1582happyfrog1089
what would be great is to stop people from changing names and avatars so often, add a number of name / avatar changes per year or something
