Same problem for me. I'm logged onto Steam but my friends list shows I'm offline. My Steam shows up as "no connection" but I am able to sift through the community pages and stores but unable to initiate chats. Steam Downtime Announcements shows no post about it so I'm guessing it's regional and not affecting all users, only some.

Maybe your provider closed some crucial Steam port. Mine does that at times, closes all but 80.

It has happened when i'm having problems with either adapter (wifi or wired), and i solve it by disabling either and try again.

Also there was an issue with my ISP a couple of months ago, most were pretty much forced to switch to the google's DNS servers to make it work, maybe thats the issue?

Does anyone still have this problem or is it just me? :s

I'm having it. Well, I can log in but the client says "No Connection" on the bottom, and playtime stats and VAC are unavailable.

I had this the other day, i ended up doing the delete everything but steamapps and steam.exe.. Worked after that.. Maybe just came back online at same time though I think?..

My friend had this issue. He was raging for 2 days over it. Finally figured out it was a conflict with game booster lol.

My "offline" status on friends list and "no connection" status on steam has been fixed. A friend of mine said he was experiencing the same problem and that it got resolved when he launched a steam game. For him and me it was Killing Floor. Not sure if other games would do the trick. Quite an odd issue and solution but it fixed it.

I was online for the last 20 minutes and now I'm back to being offline.

Looks like Steam is finally aware of the issue and doing something about it.
