So I had my computer randomly plugged in when suddenly I noticed the battery was only 10%. (At 10%, unplugging the charger means computer dies.) I clicked on the charger thing, and it said "plugged in, not charging" And the battery was staying at a flat 10%.
So I tried to unplug and plug back in, but my computer died instantly. So I put the charger back in, and booted up the old thing again. It said the same thing, but the battery is now at a flat 9% and not charging. So if I unplug AT ALL, my laptop will die. So I can never move again. What is the problem? REWARD: Idk, like a bundle game, depending on how helpful answers are.
EDIT 1: How do I remove teh battery? I has none expirence.

Call the company, since it should be covered under the warranty.

How old is the laptop? Sounds like the battery has finally failed. They don't last forever. Might be able to find a knock-off on ebay for cheap, otherwise the cost of a new battery might be more than the laptop is worth.

If the power cord and adapter were bad, the laptop wouldn't even turn on at all at this point. You can test this by pulling the battery out and turning the laptop back on. If it is only 4 months old, why are you asking us? It should be in warranty, have the manufacturer fix it.

Most batteries have some sort of latch on the bottom that you slide and the battery comes out. Other may require you to take screws out first. Or, if it is an Apple laptop, you're screwed, lol.

Can you remove the battery and check for obvious problems with it?

Also, see if the PC runs without a battery inserted.

I think this is the first thing you should do.

Have you tried booting up with just the ac power cord? Turn off your computer and remove your battery to try this.

to remove: flip it over, there should be a slider with a lock, slide it so it's unlocked, then there should be another slider that pops out the battery

If you're using a HP laptop, it will be impossible to remove the battery by flipping it up. The mechanism of the slider and the weight of the battery prevent it from being popped up.

First, turn the computer off and unplug the charger. Leave it to cool down for 5-10 minutes, then plug it back on and check. If the problem persists, do it again, this time remove the battery as well. In case of minor hardware/software failures, this will erase all temporary memory and may fix the problem. If not, then your battery may have shorted out (not worn out, as it is only 4 months old) and you will have to have it repaired/replaced.

I agree with them. It shouldn't be happening if it's only 4 months old, but sounds like the battery isn't holding a charge any more. Need a new one.

Bad battery or the power brick isnt putting out enough amps for some reason.

The only time my computer was plugged in and not charging was when it didn't have enough power to take, and when my battery was too old/broken. I guess you can make sure your computer is actually connected (idk, things can happen), make sure it isn't taking too much power, and check that your power usage settings aren't changed (go to control panel, search power options, then go to change battery settings). There could also be a problem with your power management software/settings.

Exactly as the last comment, if you can provide us with the model, we can show you how to remove the battery... but if you want to see some example (Is not like every model has its own method to remove the battery, but sometimes it requires to push or pull with force and someone with no experience will faint after trying this :P)

How to remove/replace your laptop battery:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnhQdANcHwg

Take a look at the video.

For the problem itself, i assume that the battery is old enough to start to fail. The battery lifespan will end like this... it doesn't charge or the use time will drop little by little (Example: You can use the laptop for 6 hours but with an old battery it will last only 4 hours... or less)

Remember that if you use the power cord (charger) to use the laptop, is better to remove the battery and use it with the charger. That will help to the battery to be happy :).

Additional notes:

  • If the battery is not old enought (Less than 1 year) you can use the warranty to get a replacement of it. Recently read that the laptop is 4 month old, so you need to verify also if there is no problem with the charger, but you can test it after removing the battery.
  • As i said, remember that if you don't have experience with the battery removal, sometimes you need to push or pull gently but with a little force and the sounds might scare you... don't worry with that, but look at the video.
  • Sorry for the bad english :)

Also remember, the keyword is: WARRANTY

I also have laptop, when this happened..owell you can't do anything, but buy a new battery. If i read carefully and the battery isn't charging then i don't think the problem is in the charger,if it flashes green then it's alright if it doesn't then it's charger's problem and you need to buy a new one. Same goes about the battery.. if it isn't charging gotta buy new one, currently my battery also died and now im only using the charger, because the one i was using was BS and it burned my battery.. And don't try to fix the battery it won't work. If it dies go to pc store and ask them if they can fix it (I think its fixeable, but im not sure since in my country the pc engineers are di**heads.) If not the only choice is to buy new one. But I guess it's a charger problem since it says that it isn't moving.. It should show you big X on the battery at your taskbar or saying battery not detected. GL,but either way you gotta buy a new charger/battery they are both unfixeable except if u are not pc engineer. About the removing battery turn the lap top with itsscreen to the ground, pull the blue thing near the battery and while u do it just put ur finger on the spot near the battery and push the battery up.

Once my friend had same problem. He didn't need to move with his laptop so he melted the charger to some place in his laptop. After that his laptop worked perfectly. But if you need to move, buy new battery as others said :)

I used to have this problem with my old laptop. How I fixed it? I was just randomly rotating the charger plug and pushing it in really hard. Then I checked the status and it was "plugged, charging", BOOM. Kinda weird but that's how I got it work. :P
