I see The Note is in the list for "unused keys revoked", well I've just had my activated copy of the game revoked (I activated it more than 3 years ago, in August 2016). How can Steam allow for keys to be stolen away from accounts several years later...

I have to ask. Duped, does that mean you had the "this game was already redeemed on another account" message when you tried to activate them. I recently gave a bunch of keys to my sister who said that most of them were already activated, which is odd to me since I usually keep pretty good track of my keys.

Unused (just revealed) key for Sugar Box from Indiegala Monday Motivation 40 was duped. Game seems removed from the store, but I do not know if it was totally scrapped.

I don't think a key is your property - activating it is what gives you the right to use the license or "rent" it.
Also worth noting that it's the dev/publisher revoking the keys, with some bundle sites being in the absolute center of attention. It's like they attract that kind of developers who pull this off. Majority of sold individual keys or bundles are not affected, while they also activate on Steam, quite a riddle, isn't it? :)

Your thoughts go against a pretty well settle of the definition of "digital property" adpted by many countries to legislate about digital matters. This belief goes very close to the "internet is no man's land" since you paid for something that "doesn't exist" or pay to someone (seller) that have no obligation at all with the sold (digital) product. If the key isn't your property, you have no right to go against the store when you bought a key that didn't activate, because you have to solve this issue with the one who don't "activate", because after all, your costumer relationship is established with the end, not with the origin. This happens because the "activating" is the central verb instead of "buying", since the key isn't your property. This is only in this case... imagine when you make a company that buys a code, a software, a service (in certain ways) or a system. Meanwhile of all this, developer is sitting at your money because he got his share on buy, not on activation. Edit.: If the developers didn't get paid by stores, that's their problem, or would you like to have microsoft in your forcing you switch to linux (or other OS) on your asus laptop because asus didn't "repass" the windows money to microsoft?

Because this is what happening, a seller not delivering what was promised ( key to you, money to dev) so dev thinks revoking games is best. Out of the two identities, one which took your money (seller), and one that took - back - your game (dev), who do you put the blame on? Steam, of course.
If you bought a key for a game on Steam from Indigala, then Steam has to do NOTHING with the developer being an asshole. Or indiegala/gogobundle/DIG/whatever site being an asshole and not paying them. Or neither of those want to refund you so you have either the money or the product you wanted.
PS: also you accidentally, or deliberately misunderstood what I said about keys, as it was a reply to your comment bashing Steam.

Steam has nothing to do with your key that was generated by the Dev/Publisher and sold to a store.
They have business about the license you WILL activate with it, before that you and Valve are not connected in any way.
You have business with the store who promised that the key will give you rights to a license.
And they are the middle-man between the dev (who promised the same, access to the license) and you.
It's nowhere Steam's business that someone can't deal with trustworthy trading partners, and that involves the purchaser and the store as well.

Yep. Steam. Who allowed to get them revoked? If you sell me an amazon gift card and you go to amazon to revoke that gift, who is responsible for the revokation? If the revokation system can be abused by anyone, do you think the system's owner isn't responsible? If you revoked lots of keys after get them sold, aware that this is a extortion machine, are you immune to responsabilities?
Let me put it in another way: once the gift card is out, amazon have no responsability because it won't be revoked. You'll will destroy the property, but not revoke using amazon consent (legit or not). However, if you can use amazon to invalidate anything that was sold, amazon is responsible to mantain an extortion machine. If the thing was revoked by Steam, Steam has everything to do with the later transactions.

You started a wall of text about what do you think about whatI think about digital property while all I said that before you activate a certain game, there is no legally binding connection between Steam and you regarding that product. I wasn't even near the topic you wrote 10 lines of your strawman "my thoughts" about, but whatever floats you boat mate. Be proud that you protected digital properties nobody attacked.
You can keep on your silly crusade against a feature that only gets used by trash developers selling their games to trash sites. People will eventually realize that Steam doesn't force those devs to revoke the keys, nor manipulate those "wonderful" sites to repeatedly not pay the devs.
Maybe it's just a shitty underbelly of the industry and people still keep supporting it, then scream bloody murder when bad people do bad things because bad bundle sites fuck them over. Maybe there are a lot more issues with it than an existing revoke feature, it's just easier to blame that than expect people to have a spine and dignity? Likely.

I see this is for mostly bundled games, but I want to put out there that I activated a Misbits beta key that then got revoked maybe 15 minutes later. I think if you activated it sooner you probably won't be affected, but I think they're revoking newer activations of the keys since I see some people still have it in their libraries. I activated a second beta key to see if/when this one gets revoked.

I successfully activated later one of the keys that are floating these days on multiple giveaway sites, so I do know for sure that it was their old franchise pack, I just don't know what exactly is the difference (and don't give a fuck tbh).. something is for sure, noone revokes old keys out of blue.

Same here. Around mid-2018 was revoked.
Another key from a different giveaway site at a later date activated fine.
This was the 11 game + 44(?) DLC giveaway from the Arcane+Occult (Pre/Re)Raise Developer.
Future giveaway key revokes may be incoming if the developer is revoking starting from the earliest giveaways to the latest. What a joke...give the game away this much and then revoke?

Due to character limit, time constraints and having to manually create the chart rows, it's very difficult to keep a list on revocations on SteamGifts. Since I am the one managing these notices on Barter anyway, I thought it would be convenient to centralize the reports from SteamGifts and trade offers into one place and Barter proved to be a good solution for that because of its bundles and game database.
