So we are making a game with Hats! Lots of hats!

Hats that give powers and abilities!

What do you wish your hat was able to do?

Hey, I remember you! Starting on a new game concept already? Well, it would help if we had an idea of what type of game this is (platform, hack-and-slash, etc.) to suggest possible powers - but here's some:

Rubberband (in the place of where a headband is): Extra jump ability/bounciness from falls.

Propeller Beanie Hat: Lets you fly for a bit.

Sombrero: Extra Inventory.

Samson Hat: Looks just like a regular wig, but when you put it on you grow tons of hair everywhere and become extra-strong.

Burning Head: Fire Powers.

Antenna Hat: Telepathy and/or super-senses.

Hats that look like different animal ears/antennae: Can let you talk to the specific animal.

Crown: You get extra currency (if this is a game where you get currency in).

Oh, if that's the case then here's some more relevant ones:

Watch/clock strapped on to your head: It lets you (stop? slow? reverse? Not sure of exact mechanics) time.

Coffee Hat: It kind of looks like one of those beer hats but with coffee mugs instead (though, of course, the actual design is up to you). It makes you super hyper-active and makes the character shaky. Every time that you change positions there's a little shadow/aftereffect/image that's left behind for a very short while that is still valid for catching things. If you need me to explain this concept, you know where to find me. It's based on Flash Step <- TvTropes link, you have been warned. ;)

Mirror Hat: (not sure what it would look like) Causes a reverse image that mirrors your actions. If you are catching stuff on the upper right, you also catch on the upper left.

Ice Hat: I imagine it looking like your head is covered in a giant ice cube. This hat will allow you to freeze things. I imagine it can either be the 1) Basic version: it just freezes all the eggs in places 2) Slightly more tactical version: lets you freeze eggs in the one lane that you are currently facing 3) Advanced version: Instead of freezing the eggs, you create a temporary ice wall at the bottom of the lane you are currently facing that prevents eggs from falling and slowly thaws. Gameplay-wise this is risk/reward hat as you have to watch for when the wall finally melts, letting all the eggs it was holding go. If you get it, you get a lot of eggs at once while also not having to focus on that lane while the wall was up. If you don't get it, you lose a lot of eggs at once and might even lose in that instant.

So, yeah, those are my ideas! :D

I would like a hat that makes coffee.
It would ask me, black, latte or espresso?
and before I could answer, the hot coffee would start streaming over my face.
It would hurt, I might scream, but that would be the best hat ever.

Hardcore hat(no idea on looks): no upgrades/powers, only aestethics

Viking hat: bonus damage or speed or whatever that fits a berserker, decreasing score/health/etc unless you hit/score...

GENTLEMANES BOWLER HAT:

The most friendly and bastard of hats. Ist a bowler hat, of course fitting for a gentleman... Only if the game have some sort of co-op/vs:

1- The bowler hat gives a fraction of your scores to the other player; If both players are gentleman, both gain more then they would without such humble gentleman companions.

2- 'Taunt': A elegant posture taking your hat off, in such a gentlemanish educated form that no one would able to ignore, and even the cruelest most barbarian person on the world would respond with a measure and taking their hat off.
All nice and cool, except if you make that the moment the other player would grab that score/power up you want; Not only its skipped since you forced him into the animation, for a fraction of seconds he is without his hat (and as such, without any passive/active effects).

3- if you play enought with the bowler hat you grow a mustache, or gain a monocle; No added bonuses, only the natural outcome of being a gentleman, and all the praise and recognition from other people for such.

Fedora- Allows you to grow a neckbeard, and enemies will be repulsed by you for a few seconds before attacking. However, when playing in co-op the other players can't see you.

An invisible hat. It doesn't make you invisible, it just looks invisible.

There's a certain NPC in the game that wears no hat (while everyone else does), and if you talk to him with the invisible hat equipped, he mentions he likes your hat and that it looks just like his, he then gives you an item.

A hat that serves as a refuge for kittens and another one for birds. They give you cat/bird companions.
