Did you buy it?
I don't do multiplayer.
...I know, not a very exciting reason, but you asked.

We did take part in public events - timed occurrences at set points on the maps where anybody in the vicinity can help take down a mega boss or prevent a ritual, that sort of thing - but we didn’t feel the need to chat to anyone during or after. And that suited us down to the ground.

Fair enough. It's nice when they put in gameplay that suits single players too.
I have to say that what I saw from reviews and gameplay footage didn't really excite me, though. Then there's the obligatory¹ expansion packs if you want the full story... and no, those aren't going to be part of the bundle, I don't think, not even the first one :-P
Last but not least, I have to get on board with a new form of DRM I haven't used before. That's always fun too. So all in all, no, Destiny 2 isn't a must-have for me, and I don't pick up monthlies unless the revealed game(s) already make it worth it.
[1]: I say "obligatory", but the reviews soundly trash the first one as way too little bang for your buck, so I guess they're not really obligatory. That's... good, I guess?

Is it perfect? Far from it. Is it worth $12 if you're into FPS style games? Yep. Just don't expect to be blown away by story.

I did, for three reasons.
1) Humble wouldn't give me $5 or Prototype 2 as a replacement (I asked), but I realised trade value is higher than that anyway.
2) I've been on a yearly subscription and have regretted that for a while, so the sooner it's over the better -- skipping would have prolonged it for another month.
3) Fear of missing out. There are more games coming after all.
So yeah, I early unlocked. Don't have the key anymore, I have some other nice keys instead ;) Hope the other games won't be something I'd have rather skipped.
Part of me does say I should have skipped to "make a statement", but eh, those other reasons won out ...
(Edit: As for keeping it -- it's just not a game for me. After my year with Marvel Heroes I'm just not interested in MMOs of any type anymore (except Meadow ;). If it had been a Steam key I might have activated it and even tried it, but the added effort of using battle.net .... was just too much effort for something I didn't really want all that much.)

i do not have anything against it, just warning you.

There's no referral in the link provided (at least, by the point where you posted the reply that I'm responding to- the comments below do confirm that wasn't the case earlier). Are you perhaps thinking of the automatic referral that SG adds to all Humble and Fanatical links?

I opened the thread a few seconds after that post was commented, and eternal confirmed that we were addressing the same referral link. As I noted in my original comment, I wasn't addressing the earlier referral link, just the basis for why eternalhate thought it was persisting after it had been edited out.

Nah, I'm not big on devs that treat their customers like scum.

That's probably just the tip of the iceberg but one thing would be heavily reducing XP and credit gain (without telling you) while still showing normal progression when somebody replays the same mission / event over and over again.
The other thing that comes to mind is seasonal gear / armor where you can't collect a whole set during the event without buying Loot boxes.

Bungie deliberately tweaked the experience gain over the soft cap to make it exponentially slower the more you play, so people would buy more in-game items instead. If you want the long story, this article more or less sums it up:
https://kotaku.com/bungie-changes-destiny-2-xp-system-after-players-discov-1820728952
Plus there was the whole debacle about turning personalisation unlocks from the first game into one-time consumables here. Sort of like how Deus Ex Human Revolution's pre-order DLC gave you new items to use any time you wanted, but the follow-up game, Mankind Divided gave you similar items as pre-order bonus, but you could use them once. As in, on one save file, never again.
The loot system was also redesigned to favour microtransactions, but that one reeks from Activision instead of Bungie. Pretty much all the latest lootbox casinos by them (CoD WWII or Overwatch) use this same patented lootbox marketing scheme.

I bought it because i want to see what's the rest of the bundle made of. Already sold D2 for a fair amount, i couldn't care less about a multiplayer shooter coming from Activision with all theyr usual scummy tactics and i really don't want to deal with another platform than steam on the monthly.

Skipped, mainly because that game does not interest me. Actually, never heard of it beyond trigger words "shooter" and "multiplayer" which in themselves translate to "do not buy" for me. Recently I've also become seriously disenamoured with the whole Monthly (even HB) thing so I'm going to keep skipping until there's something I'd actually really want. $12 is money and I can think of better things to spend it on right now. On top of that, I already have a million keys to give away (whole Monthlies even) so... Not to mention a neverending backlog. \o/ And I rather keep my games on Steam in any case. But that's just an addendum.
tl;dr: No. Just, no.

Skipped because I'm not really too happy about Humble outright lying to their customers.

You probably got a better deal waiting. I got $20 like 2 months ago after all (when my yearly re-subbed). It was $10 a few months before that. The price is raising... and that's a bad sign.
I kinda doubt I'll go for another year after that though...

I will probably buy it and sell it for 9-10$ and get the rest of the bundle for cheap. Really have no intention or time or money to play game that is focused on grind and shoving dlcs down my throat. Didn't understand hype this game was surrounded in, shooting was nice, everything else mediocre. Why people buy this for 60 bucks I cannot comprehend.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well I have bought it way back and I played the campaign completly solo .. If you have a friend or two it might be even more fun ... but for 12 bucks it should be a must for everyone who likes call of duty style shooting and diablo style grinding ....
It's also a pretty good pickup if you are into FPS and have a tolerance towards RPG elements .. if you dont .. stay away from it
Edit
I'll still propably get the deal though .. just to sell or gift Destiny 2 .. for now I'll abstain though .. my wallet needs a moment of recovery

I found the whole "Get an incredible game" part HILARIOUS as it was referencing Destiny 2. I believe the only reason they are using that game, is because it's in support of the Bungee foundation charity, which is quite commendable, however, I still don't want their shit game. I'm the kind of person that micro-transactions are aimed at, especially as I've become unemployed once more and they will just attack he senselessly. I'm tempted to just give the game away on here when I go in for a early buyin. I hope this trend doesn't continue, since IGN acquired Humble Bundle they might've been given the suggestion to do this, but without any information, I'm going to assume it's all for the Bungee foundation which, by the sounds of it, is doing a lot of good for kids. Doesn't mean I forgive their shit business practices around the Destiny series, but I'd like to look for the good before declaring anything nefarious.

I've been subbed to the monthly for over 2 years now and i never skipped one. But this is the first time i consider pausing my subscription. I have zero interest in Destiny 2 that need expensive dlc to be of any good and it is not a Steam game. Still hoping they reveal some other good unlocks to keep me on board.

I don't play fps games, but things I heard from my friends about Destiny 2 include:

No, because friend bought it for me as birthday present, which would have been great if I wanted it lol, I did play it but game devs weren't really in touch with their user base, scammy practices with loot boxes, DLC etc and I gave up on it a long time ago. If I didn't have it I'd probably buy it now to try it

I'd say pretty much all Humble Monthly bundles are a good deal. Although if it's a good deal for you is entirely dependent on if you are interested in the games in the bundle and want to play them.
With only a single early unlock revealed so far for a non Steam game that I'm not really interested in that has a bunch of DLC it's an easy pass for me.

not a fan of multiplayer-only games.
not a fan of MMOs anymore, wasted too many years on WoW.
not a fan of ridicullous business model based on tons of microtransactions and lootboxes and shady systems made solely to push you into buying them.
not even worth it as +1 to Steam library xP

it isn't even a Steam key ... i think the key is for Battle.net

Bought it and going to buy another copy for my brother so we can play together :)

They used to call Warframe "poor man's Destiny", but now they call Destiny "rich idiots Warframe".

I'm not getting it just on principle. We went from (most of the time) getting 3 early unlocks that I hadn't thought of buying but might enjoy to a single early unlock that I had planned on specifically not buying.

I did not buy it as I played it on PS4. Without buying DLCs you just feel completely hopeless and weak in comparison to other players. On top of that light level progression is terribly slow later on. When the first DLC came out I was blocked from content I had had access to, so I sold the game and don't want ever to come back to any game made by Bungie, thank you very much.
If I did not play it, I would definitely buy it with Humble monthly, though. it's quite fun before you reach endgame.

I'll just copy+paste my post in the official June Humble topic;
Micro-transactions
Secret XP choking
Requiring DLC to play base game content
"Events" which are just DLC fests that cost $1000 to collect all items
More lying
Even more lying
Even after all this time still having less content than Destiny 1
Removing D1 content for "balance reasons" then adding them in DLC
And I probably missed a couple more things.

You can get it here for 12$ + other games
I've seen a hell lot of hate towards this game. I guess I never got on that train since I never played the first one.
I got the bundle and for 12$ + other games and it's a hella good deal IMO.
I like the game so far and I hope it won't let me down further on.
Thoughts?
