Wasnt in my radar, wishlisted! Turns out i had underground man 1 and mercury man on my wl but somehow forgot about then- probably because i fill my wl of all games i think might be interesting so it gets huge and cluttered, and probably clouded by more know titles and steam sales.
This one caught my eye even more with the premise of mixing beat n up, point-n-click and platformer

Thanks for the GA- btw what role you had in the production? Art, code, music?

Oh, it's so pleasant to hear! I'd advise you to start with this game, it's far better than the first one in every aspect, and the previous events are briefly explained in the prologue. My friend was the lead developer in this game, and I translated this game into English. It's a personal project for both of us, but it got almost 0 recognition in the West. That upsets me a little since I tried to make the perfect adaptation and translation so the Russian jokes would be understood by other nations, and I managed to do it. It wasn't until two years after the release that I came up with the idea to do a giveaway of several copies so that at least some people would hear about it

Thats no fault of the game mind you. Gaming currently is just too crowded, long gone were the golden days of the indie boon. Steam doesnt help not filtering out scam games and such but truth be told thats the reality everywhere. I try my best to find hidden jewels (i even use steams queue regularly not just on sales) but even outlets that focus on indie games cant cover everything and every week just a few flashier ones get the attention

What i think would be great is for someone (itch perhaps, gog) to make some kind of indie gamepass. Even if said indie gamepass didnt get many subscribers it could do wonders for visibility

That seems like a brilliant idea actually. Too bad they can't do this on consoles

Just one more thing to the long list of things that cant happen in consoles.
BUT theres some hope things may change in the future... pc gaming finally became an staple, steam a gaming titan (maybe the most profitable company in gaming? Idk, if not someday will be), gamepass turned heads and shifted plans for pretty much every big company in the industry, sony now releases titles on pc...

Ive seen some theorizing/fearing consoles may face a loss in popularity (except nintendo, they dont fit the curve) and apparently that same fear is on sonys mind, microsoft execs, shareholders etc - but one thing that could shift that or shareholder perspective is making consoles a bit more like pcs. Not the next generation, i guess too soon, but we could yet see xbox or playstation in the future more open to third parties(wich would still pay their cut to be in their platform), so maybe EA Play, ubisoft+ or something else new (like an indie gamepass) could also show up elsewhere...

In any case consoles are more keen of making their version of things- so if an indie gamepass show up and suceeds, even if niche, that would probably be sound for console makers. I mean it could justify even more income- here gamepass, playstation+... oh you want another aditional library? Thats a cheap 5 a month, but its a separate package...

Yep, and Valve clearly feels this wind of change with their Steam Deck thing. We may also see a revival of Steam Machines in the near future. It's so true about the consoles that lost their popularity, among those three I only have Switch, and I'm in love with it. This shift towards exclusive games is making Nintendo a king of the game indeed

With a title like that and the Russian connection, I'm curious to know if the game touches on Dostoevsky's writings?

Oh no, it's not based on Dostoyevsky's works, "The Underground Men" is literally about men living in the sewers XD However as far as I remember there were a couple of references to Dostoyevsky in the dialogues.

Hi, for your sake please change the description of the discussion. The intent of the post seems to be to get people to check out a game that you had a role in. Discussions geared around advertising something will get you banned.

Doesn't seem to promo'ish to me, but one of the admins might disagree. Maybe just mention the game, and then the link to the giveaway. And you can keep the text as you have it in the giveaway.

I like the look and feel of both this game, and its precursor.

Wish listed both of them, to snag at some point. Seems like something that'd sell really well in a Build Your Bundle on Fanatical.

Thx for sharing a great looking pixel art game!

How long does it take to play through the 1st vs 2nd game?

Thank you! The first game is notably longer probably since it has no difficulty options, and some levels may take time getting used to them
